The Edmonton Oilers jacked up an Albertan lacrosse team for using the term "battle of Alberta" because apparently the Oiler org trademarked the term. They're especially mad that there are other Albertan teams still playing sports this time of year, known as the holiday season for Oilers. Given that the CFL used this term before the NHL this is pretty stupid.
Unfortunately for the Oilers they have violated the trademark "NHL franchise" for their crappy hockey the last many seasons.
My Leafs have violated the trademark "NHL Franchise" for at least the last 11 years. It would be easy to argue that its been the last 30.
