I find no sentimental value in antiquities and other random stuff. Brits love their culture and history (Downtown Abbey and Antiques Roadshow). It must be the English weather that makes them weird :)
Actually, it is the large quantities of cheap Chinese food products shipped into the country. At least that is the excuse I use to keep my sanity after spending £500 on a popstation/
