Pac that was happening when I was in my teens, so it's not a new experience!

Well, I didn't CTE, hahaha... but surely the times of the Empire of Cafundéu are over, maybe one day I'll end forgetting to log on.

We hope not Caf.

Too bad, I would've liked to know you. You're my neighbouring nation and live in a neighbouring nation to mine. :/

Oh goddamn it, everyone loves Caf but he's throwing off my claim to be the richest and most economy.

I would think both Caf and CH would beat us all for that.

And Northern Bettia too.

The list of believeably roleplayed 'rich' nations in AO used to consist of - in no particular order - Caf and CH way above everyone else, then Pac, myself and Sarz, then we were followed by everyone who liked to RP as a first world nation or equivalent to modern day USA.

Merely going by the stats is a dumb way to go on NS, it's got to be the way you write about it and how believeable that is when you look at the general categories and use something like NSEconomy. Lamoni, for instance, always used to RP like he was the USA, but his economy was permanently in the toilet (something like 250 of his currency to every 1 USD). Looks like he's got it up to a believeable level now, though (i.e. Frightening).

As long as the fact my economy has been Frightening for the past 7 or so RL years keeps me as a 'rich' nation with spending money to burn in some new order, then I'm happy :D

I do desperately try to be an incredibly wealthy nation, in a kind of terrifying cyberpunk way. What with all the businesses running everything.

I'll always maintain that as long as you can justify it with 'evidence' in your roleplayed background and history then, as long as it's not vastly different to your issues choices and the distorted version that ns.net shows, then you can get away with it.

Take Starblaydia, for instance, as that's the only nation I have accurate RP history details on, of course. I would say Starblaydia is a creative powerhouse - the popularity of ediraf designs, for instance, implied that the nation itself is a stylish, design-led and creative place. The fact Uranium Mining has been my dominant industry since day one means we're a) good miners, b) have nuclear power expertise and c) probably have/build a boatload of nuclear weapons, which also means the science base is fairly high. Our militaristic background is there for all to see (as with most nations), as is the code of honour that goes with it. That then leads into the sporting aspect of fair play as a national characteristic.

Throw in the business acumen, e.g. when Orcinus Vodka was the most famous/promoted/popular spirit on the forums, and you can say "yes, Starblaydia is a rich nation because of all these things..." and not just "because I say so".

I guess the secret is always show your working.

Starblaydia not so different from Falcania then. I guess the strong militaristic Falcanian background and emphasis on soldiering and war and combat, then you've got the huge industrial conglomerate of Jay Industries (now recently broken down and absorbed by other huge industrial conglomerates), and the massive pollution everywhere, I think it's fair to say that Falcania is a strong and terrifying industrial powerhouse.

Terrifying.

ASMV was always kind of 2nd class when I was here before. At least as far as Military and Economics went. I RP’ed it that way and was fine with it.

Since my return I have moved my economy to become all-consuming, moved to 3rd or 4th in the region for defense forces, and have made sure my defense spending is far more than adequate. And Arms Maufacturing is my number one industry.

I am RPing now as a nation just emerging as a 1st world nation capable of more than just holding it’s own in regional affairs and flexing it muscles a bit. With a bright shiny new modern military to boast of, ASMV is no longer the WWII Poland equivalent of AO.

When you think you can take on the rest of the region and fight to... well, a score draw, then come see us ;) hehe

I'm at least fairly sure Falcania could have a bash at that if we invested in a navy.

But we won't, because of all those cloudbases we built

...the WWII Poland equivalent of AO.

Somebody call for me?

Beyond moderate-to-low levels of interest, that's part of the reason I don't do much non-sports RPing: I've yet to take the time to establish my place in the region. If I were to guess, I'd go with a RL-equivalent to middling in the region, mostly on the grounds of a strong economy, but with the idea that we've been rebuilding/changing society for the last 60-70 years, post-Galactica. ASMV's IC comment about me being weary of the Purple Giant is fair description of most of Legalese's policy decisions with respect to how they affect their place in AO.

Pacitalia used to be up there with CH and Caf, but ever since the socialists got a hold of the levers things haven't been so rich around here. ;)

Post self-deleted by World Bowl.

Much better off now than at any previous time, Star. Head to Head with you or a couple of others would be suicide on my part, but at least i can adequately defend my own for a change.

And Falc, that's why we have the CCS. My Navy. Your Air Force. Covers our individual weaknesses if Star snores too loudly and wakes himself up.

^Oh, I could play a role in this, not much to offer besides some pretty cool recon drones and stuff, but I really need a DECENT RP to be in.

Port hawthorne

When was the new landmass created on the map?

Andossa se mitrin vega

A little bit ago. Check Falc's RP on the forums.

Also, about Falcania's expansion, I think it might be logical for me to claim a small portion of the area to set up a naval base and a small settlement. I would need this due to the fact that when I send naval vessels to war, I have to fly them out of Lake Bekk over unclaimed territory north. With this, I could launch straight into international waters. Also, due to the economic downturn in Leorudo, I have been fighting on all sort of threads for unclaimed island and stuff. All of which have turned out to be unsuccessful...

'Can you imagine what the Starblaydii will do' <-- Well the real answer was "look up, go 'huh?' and go off to see what the heck is going on". Is that where you're sticking your Jay Industries, Falc? If so I think Leorudo 'renting' a naval base and accompanying city from there would be a decent idea. Plus it'd give you a link and influence right slap bang in the middle of my own sphere of influence in the form of neighbouring (up by the Bekk, at least) Leorudo.

It might lead to some Starblaydi muscle-flexing, or Julius Starblayde out on a smiles-and-handshakes mission to be nice to everyone. Or both, I dunno. I hadn't got any plans in regards to expansion/influence on new bits of land, so just kinda run with this and see what happens. i should have a little bit more time soon to start RPing national goings on in the region soon, so it's a great time for everyone to show off how strong they are, before the purple menace yells "Hi boys, I'm ba-ack!" ;)

Hey Leorudo, have you considered a lucrative career in the CCS? It'd be perfect for us. And you, I guess.

Bless you Star, you should send little Julie Starblayde on a meet 'n' greet to the Citadel. I'm sure Falcon III would be honoured to meet the family that his uncle had such a grudge against.
