Yesterday, I had watched a Fareed Zakaria interview where the person he interviewed, Peter Beinart, said that the Obama coalition was summed up as "Football plus basketball", while the GOP were "NASCAR plus golf plus baseball".
American Football is America's bipartisan sport.
Then Beinart (who is from South Africa) and Zakaria started discussing how they pray cricket will take over.
Night, cricket didn't take over in continental Europe.
How is it going to take over a country which is founded on getting away from Britain as fast as possible?
Indians.
I'd also say that the more lefty Democrats must surely be into the NHL, with their Canada worship
Enjoy your war with the Latino Football Horde
Having lived in very blue areas (San Francisco, Portland, so on), I can tell you that hockey is non-existent.
Also, there isn't very much Canada worship in America, outside some self-hating people online.
Canada appreciation, certainly. But there's a very distinct national identity.
Despite what the Internet tells you, the overwhelming majority of Americans are quite content with being what they are, and most are quite patriotic.
And hockey is popular in the Northeast, which is a bit of a mix, politically. Ohio and Pennsylvania are swing states, after all, and hockey is very popular here.
Ah. Well, I mostly lived on the West Coast, so I didn't know of that.
You know, I try to make less use as possible of the "self hating x" term, mostly due to its use by some unsavoury race-obsessed people.
But the self hating of some American people on the internet, regardless of skin colour and social class, can be absurd.

When the WC comes, stuffy European media loses any semblance of professionalism.
We don't have basketball here, we have hockey instead.
Basketball's big on the West Coast.
I quite enjoy basketball. It's the American sport I picked up. It's quite frankly just fun.
Europe is starting to love basketball.
Take it as a price to pay to infect the Yanks with the Soccer Flu
Good! I'm fond of both of those sports.
Football, cricket, basketball, those are my enjoyments.
Basketball's fun, but I like hockey too.
Hockey's a bitch to set up, though.
That's why you let other people play it and just watch.
The funniest thing is that SLAVS are the most succesful of all people, in European basket.
The Soviet Union won 14 f*cking European titles.
Well, yeah.
I quite like professional fighting. Basketball is also fun, though I prefer to watch because I'm not that good at it.
Professional Fighting? You mean MMA?
That's what it's called.
Also, wrestling.
I enjoy fight sports, though I don't have the time to follow them very closely. I had a friend once who was a semi-pro MMA fighter on the Midwest regional circuit; he went 5-1, then his wife made him quit. We trained together; he was the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet.
Wrestling is actually just hilarious.
De Telegraaf has become one of my favourite newspapers, solely because they made this:
