Oh, lord. Why would you ever even bother with that thread in the first place?

We must enlighten the masses. Only for this reason do I touch NSG.

My personal opinion: Both ideas can work together. Yours is the framework while Astro handles the details.

Exactly my thoughts.

More or less, yep.

Of course, since it involves Ankh Mautans, handling the side-quests is probably the most important part of the RP. Since we'll probably never get anywhere near the first villain.

Very true.

Astro, would you want to think up the sidequests in addition to the main plot, or have someone else handle them?

I'm pretty sure posting there constitutes a form of self-harm.

Whatever it is it's quixotic by now. The keks are sometimes worth it though.

Anyone looking for their lost fascist?

That seems to be the only thing that anyone could get out of NSG.

The right wing posters there make me cringe too much to even read what a lot of them post.

I'm not sure whether Ankh Mauta would be interested, but due to becoming more interested in learning about Rome lately, I've been considering making a rp set in Rome. It would likely be exclusive to AM region members as well as posters I know and trust, specifically because of problems Astro mentioned in the past about Roman era rp's. I'm also fairly certain there would be at least one person who would try to make their character the next Caesar (a position I'd only entrust to either Astro or Agri).

My idea has two settings in mind.

A) Either set in the classical Roman era before the fall of the Western Empire, with players rping patricians in the senate for the most part, although I'm open to the idea of slaves and Praetorians also being rped.

B) Or one set in modern times, most likely after an apocalypse. I'd prefer this one because it would allow more flexibility and fluidity in technology. Also, I like the idea of a post-apocalyptic Roman society worshiping George Washington as a god based on their interpretation of works such as the Apotheosis of Washington.

B sounds very interesting, almost Fallout, though I wasn't much of a fan of Caesar's Legion so if it ends up being as bad as them...

I'm also... Uncertain of how an RP tied into US history is going to work, considering I'm Canadian and know basically nothing.

B sounds pretty interesting. A, too, but B more so, I think.

Clearly the solution is to tie Canadian history into it. Laura Secord, Mackenzie King, and Pierre Trudeau would make up the pantheon. Harper would be the devil.

Why would the Americans include Laura Secord? She kind of f*cked up one of their major assaults during the War of 1812.

King would definitely make sense though, so long as it's actually Mackenzie King and not William Lyon Mackenzie King.

Well, her chocolates are good. :P

Is there any Mackenzie King besides William Lyon Mackenzie King?

Whoops got confused. I was referring to William Lyon Mackenzie, whom King was named after: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Lyon_Mackenzie

To be fair, Fallout most likely subconsciously influenced me. But Caesar's Legion hardly reflects what the real, actual Rome was like, which is what the rp would try to capture. Rome was a state and not a simple military.

Any US history tied in probably wouldn't require next to any research, unless one doesn't know who George Washington and other popular presidential figure were. It makes sense though that a Neo-Roman society in America would see them as heroes who were divinized after death much like the imperial cult.

Ah, fair enough. I'm still curious as to how the rest of the world factors into this.

I don't think any of those figures received the almost god-like devotion that Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln did.

They weren't literally worshiped, but it was pretty damn close, and it's easy to see why people with little to no written record would assume these men were deified heroes.

I think Canada would be more Celtic than anything.
