Bermudan: Paranoid or not, it was the only strategic input besides kill them all or cure them that's been offered. Constructive criticism would go a lot farther toward developing a plan than labeling my input. So, yeah, we have a week. Does that mean we are going to wait until the apocalypse is upon us before we discuss it?

If you research the cure a lot and then move to a new region, do the bonuses like reduced infection rate carry over?

mild annoyance at no 'edit' function
anyway

I've previously offered the solution of simply locking down our regional borders. So there was that to fall back on.
I've never done this either, but I'm of the belief that if everyone just avoids the vicious 'let's spread the zombie love!' sort of actions, we should get out of it mostly okay.
On the other hand, there's always the possibility that someone who went through the Zombocalypse last year is around, and knows the course of action we should generally be taking.
Moreover, I'm not saying your idea is bad; merely that it seems more like the sort of plan you go to when the nukes are about to start flying. So let's keep it on hand and discuss other protocols first.

We want to maximize survival the survival rate. If we assume that each NS will get a touch of the plague and how it deals with it (I don't know if you can change your course of action midstream, but assume you can) determines their infection rate and consequently, the infection rate of others in the region. If there is an element of systematic randomness that you cannot control for, so be it. But if not, then the exterminate or research option is better. Which one cannot be known in advance but, we could segregate the community into to sequestered camps so that the inferior strategy doesn't bring down the nations that chose the other.

I think the extermination and research options are predicated on the nation's overall degree of militarization or scientific advancement, specifically. If everyone picks the option that best suits their nation, as opposed to having a regionwide strategy, then we should be in much better shape, simply because we wouldn't expect a pacifist nation to be very good at extermination, for example.

should i kill all zombies or research a cure? if i research does this mean i kill no zombies?

The burning sun

Basically, yeah. However, it slows down your infection rates, as well as your region's overall infection rate

I will kill all the zombies, though i am still terrified of what will come

I think ill do that or maybe research for a cure.

The best option is to have our King close our regions borders and then have all the nations in ainur research a cure.

Why? I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just interested in the logic of your response.

that actually sounds like a good idea

Why? That is my instinctual choice but that incorporates compassion which is an emotional, not logical response. If any member nations embrace the zombie plague we may not be able to contain it with research. The cure may just not come quickly enough. What then?

That way we can keep the infected out of Ainur.

Felicity mercer

I believe that each nation is going to have some level of infection to deal with. So we can seal our borders and prevent nations that have high infection rates from entering, but we are still going to have to cure or kill the indigenous infected.

I'm not closing the region to new recruits just because you're all playing along with a silly zombie infection :P

The burning sun

In that case, I'll be off stocking my private bunker. See you on the other side...or not.

Well, since closing the borders is not an option, we need to Strategize.
New Ainur looks like a suitable fallback position, so if we start getting overrun by zombies of any stripe we can pull back to there.
In the meantime, we can all work on research, since that gives the best outcomes for the region as a whole.
For those of us who don't like the idea of research, they can shoot people, since at least that doesn't hurt the rest of the region.
For those who feel like 'staying alive' is a bad bet and you should just be a quisling and join the zombies...Wow. Why would you even. That's just crazy talk.

very well. research it is, and since nations that join the zombies and trying to spread it will most likely come here, another fallback region would be great.

Spoil sport :P

I created a protected region (password protected) that anyone here is welcome to join me at should the infection rate get to high.

Asylum

Multiple fallback positions. I like it.
I highly recommend looking at the Dispatches, there was one that fairly quickly went over How2Zombie in an amusing fashion.
Cure seems to be the best option for now.
