I came up with such a challenging question in the sadly stunted science fiction section of my local public library. I was just thinking about the great masters of Science Fiction, the gods of it, and I wanted to know who could be superior to another.

Evidently, each one was unique styles that cannot be compared, so the question is sort of cheating, but still...

For example, I voted Isaac Asimov because he managed to attain a wider fame by going further into the scientific and social aspects of his work, considering things like robot ethics and writing entire books about actual atomic science. Mostly with his creation of the Laws of Robotics, but I think this has had a large impact on his public image today.

I am an H.G Wells fangirl, primarily because the first book I can actually remember reading (besides Pride and Prejudice) was The Time Machine.

Also sorry for the double post, but the Scotland issue reminded me of how DC is calling to be a state again. They want to name it New Columbia or something along those lines.

Really?

Wasn't the whole point of D.C. existing at all so that the capital wouldn't be in a state?

Isaac Asimov is certainly worth of note for the reasons that you had mentioned. H.G. Wells is certainly notable for being a pioneer in a time when modern fiction dominated the market by introducing a "what if" line of thinking. Frank Herbert, who would be succeeded by Brian Herbert, brought the world of Dune alive, a treasured collection of stories if any.

One that I would suggest if you have not come across any of his works is Philip K. Dick whose works have been adapted into films. A couple of examples are "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" which was adapted into both versions of "Total Recall". And "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", which was adapted into
"Bladerunner".

Another suggestion I cane make is Robert A. Heinlein who wrote "Starship Troopers", and if anybody has seen the movie (I don't count the sequels) I can assure you the book is better.

You know, I'm not sure about that. I do know that they get taxed but don't have any representatives in Congress or the Senate which they are understandably unhappy about. DC is an interesting place, kind of like a whole new more complicated world.

I remember also that (supposedly) the Confederate States of America had a disadvantage during the war because their capital was also the capital of the state of Virginia, so others states were compelled to protect Virginia in order to protect the Confederate Capital, which they were understandably not happy about and some other Confederate states refused to protect Richmond because they needed or wanted to keep their forces home to defend against Union attack.

Hm... I think I might've just found Free's new favourite snack. Just imagine the possibilities my friends!

As have I.

Also, desert cakes laced with various fine liquors. Personally, I always preferred my chocolate lava cakes alcohol-free.

beer in brownie or cake mix makes it fluffy and light.

So, the Summer Project From Hell is over at work.
Just in time for the owner of the company to come down for a visit today.
And while he was here, he gave me free Bruins tickets. :D

Here there now Coffee Cakes my good man, I should safeguard them there Bruins tickets as a mission imperative to the survival of the empire.

* Pockets the tickets while whistling the theme song to The Andy Griffith Show. Hands Coffee Cakes back an onion. *

Assorro, blame Toronto for Ontario not having a good NHL team. :P

Onions are the worst. >_>

Well I can't just go around blaming Toronto for things. Maybe if they didn't manage to fill their seats every year they'd get the urge to do a better job of it. Here you go folks!

Hm... sounds like Toronto could use the likes of Milbury to help them along. I'm sure a couple years under his care will bring the Leafs to the top(of the bottom that is).

I've heard that before. It's only been 47 years but lets face it GBC, it's got to be very difficult being a Cubbies fan huh? ;)

Pfft . . . ice hockey season here in UK/Ireland started 2 weeks ago, my team is probably already out of the play offs and we're only 4 games in!! :-P

Now about that Absinthe, are we having a vote?

Tamtun took a good run at the Absinthe and now we're all out. I was there. Told her not to do it but she just told me to STFU so there we are.

... She took all my rum too.

Ah, Tam the taker of the rum, that scoundrel!

In unsurprising news, the Islanders fell to the Carolina Hurricanes by the score of 4-2. Pretty disappointing game overall, though the play of Brennan and Reinhart was a bright spot.

Taking the rum was the diversionary tactic used to escape her fencing match with Freeoplis. Not that I blame her. Look at Freeoplis over there, he's, ... well he's, ... he's ready to go I'll tell you that much. Still, all the rum to the girl that could have easily been the inspiration to the movie cartoon Brave.

Now, watch me puff my chest out and stand like a statue for an hour.

Hm...

Cracked the top 500 in the world for most eco friendly governments. Suck it, environment-haters!

I'm middle of the road with the eco-friendly stuff apparently which is rather odd since you can see me listed as "environmentally stunning". Should I not be front of the pack then?

And I'm probably bottom 500 in that. xD
