I still do.
But I liked the old Jets better.

I also like the Blue Bombers, too.

You are the only person I know that doesn't live in Manitoba but actually like the Jets. Or at least, the only person I know to have admitted it.

I'll like the new Jets better once they're rid of Big Ugly Buff, but I love having a Jets team again.

Assorro, I always thought Tamatun would be more of a second coming of Lucy Lawless myself.

A Jets fan you say? Sounds like they're almost as rare a breed as a Coyote fan, if what you say is indeed true.

While Lucy Lawless is still young enough to take on the role again if she so chose, Linda Carter is 63. Tamatun's more Princess Diana of Themyscira than the Warrior Princess from Amphipolis even though both are Amazons.

Hm, you do have a valid point there. This reminds me, aren't they making a Wonder Woman movie?

Assorro wrote:Does it hurt at all?

Not really. Been through it all with them, except for a Stanley Cup win.

Gameboycolor wrote:More like a Chokes fan.

They'e awful this year.

I believe they are planning a movie which is why we need to convince Tamatun NOW!

That commercial is creepy as hell Assorro

Hm... Shouldn't we be consulting Sheika regarding Amazons? I thought amazonian related subjects were Sheikas thing?

*sits behind a desk, smiling with fingers laced together* Amazons? How can I help?

I seem to have a problem with them. Enough of them want to kill me though none of them appear to actually want me. Which is odd. >_>

They've already cast wonder woman. She'll be in the batman vs superman movie.

Well they keep casting new Batman's and Spiderman's, don't they? Down the road Tamatun, down the road is where we need to be setting the goal.

Sorry, but the knowledge is power, right?

Sudarium

Speaking of batman, Adam West made an appearance on last Sunday's episode of Comic Book Men, complete with Batmobile vs Black Beauty "drag race."

It's all in the approach. It's a matter of finesse...or something.

I hold nothing but contempt for that player named Ardchoille now. I just got some inane unofficial warning in a GA thread by them for posting a funny picture as a reply. I hold nothing but contempt for such close-minded people. I like about this group though; discussions are mature and civil, with good humor thrown in occasionally, and nobody gets called obnoxious for it.

Posting in the forums can be a little tricky, and all things considered it was an unofficial warning which is not all that bad. Ardchoille is actually pretty cool, but a mod has got to do what a mod has got to do. Everything is going to be okay. :)

It's unfortunate Sudarium but without rules you get anarchy and the NS board, like most boards, has serious issues with trolls. As such, they enforce their posted rules to keep threads focused and orderly. Just place yourself in their position for a moment. If you start allowing exceptions or overlook violations then other players will start doing the same due to the precedence that was just set. This leads quite rapidly to a much larger mess to clean up which is why it's better to hand out an unofficial warning to one player who may deem it as unreasonable so the others will take notice to the presence of authority. They don't want their board turned into a spamfest which is what posting pictures generally leads to. They ask for discussion not one image, one word responses in order to keep threads on topic, relevant, spam-free and hopefully interesting to other players.

They stopped being polite years ago because being polite unfortunately simply doesn't work when dealing with large volumes of people. People always test boundaries so those boundaries must be reinforced. It wasn't personal against you. Just moderation in action which we as players have the choice to either stay clear of or conform to. Ugly perhaps in the light you are now seeing it but reasonable when you understand how difficult keeping order actually is. Moderation is generally a thankless job.

As a player with five solid years of recruiting experience, I have the benefit of knowing exactly what kinds of personalities you come across online. Especially around NS. The majority of people are just like you and I. They will be polite and courteous though you will also come across the less than polite and courteous person more often than you would like. I'd send out my telegram and get a flaming response in return. My rule violation was in never reporting it but rather baiting the flamer with replies such as "It's not your fault someone lured you out of a tree, shaved you down and attempted to train you to speak. Please don't blame yourself." This would almost always lead to a back and forth with them getting increasingly upset which amused me exceedingly for having turned the tables. On occasion, I did get reported for it and even if the moderator could plainly see what it was I was doing and why, I had nonetheless violated site rules by pursuing the conversation instead of reporting it or letting it go. I never saw the mods ruling against me as personal or unfair. It's just them restoring order and yes, I totally had it coming. ;)

If I have personally done anything right around here today, it is only because I have made so many mistakes in the past. Some of these folks watched the movie When Founders Go Bad from 2011 starring me as the antagonist so I can hardly deny it. 300 nations were ejected from the region once because I allowed a "free-speech" discussion to get out of hand and go on for far too long. No one was listening to me some months later repeatedly being polite and asking for them to stop so a show of force was employed by me out of frustration and anger to demonstrate my own petty Human resolve that I will not be ignored. My mess. My mistake, not theirs, yet 300 nations paid the price where the majority of them had not even been involved. Order was restored and we once again became peaceful but I have never been capable of shaking the stigma of being a loose cannon. Ultimately, because I did not do my job in the first place and enforce forum policy. I allowed anarchy to prevail and was responsible for the situation that occurred. I allowed my own anger to surface and grow, did not only deal with the individuals involved but rather took it out on the community as a whole. Since then, I have come to realise it was I that paid the highest price that day. Everything I worked so hard to build up over years suddenly came crashing down. We have never recovered.

This hopefully will help bring some perspective about why moderation is done the way it is. Nip it in the bud. Believe me, humble pie sucks especially when consumed after the damage caused was due to the inaction of those responsible for maintaining order and enforcing rules. I am without a doubt, one of the worst Founders to have ever graced this stage. As such, I can not blame moderators for not wanting a similar outcome on a much larger scale nor a similar stigma being associated to their name.

Would that be Black Beauty, the Horse? Serious disadvantage to the Horse if so.

Aright, who's been playing around with the layout of NationStates, 1 minute I know what I'm doing, and the next there's a whole load of fancy new buttons and I have pictures of open plain fields on my Nation page!! . . . either that or I've been drinking too much again!! :-s

We still love you, even with the cannon.

We may not have recovered in the traditional sense, but it really brought to light that this isn't just some random group on some random game. We've been around for years, some of us come and go but most of us always come back. This is home, this is where we belong. Even you.
We aren't as active as we used to be, but you know what? That doesn't mean we couldn't be. I think we've evolved past the game, past the region, into this being essentially a gathering place for a group of friends from all over the world, a place we can come and say hi, make sure everyone is still okay, connect with the people who have been in our lives for years, and new ones that haven't. I love that about this place, no matter where I am I can always come here and it's like walking in the front door at home again.

I have met people here that I am frankly quite honored to call friends, people I wouldn't have met other wise, from cultures I wouldn't have spared a second thought about that I now have the opportunity to experience for myself. Some time in the next two years I'm going to go to Israel to visit Nerosina. I never would have even dreamed of going if it wasn't for this place, or for that matter if it wasn't for what happened with you that October. Not even to mention how honored I am to know you, Assorro. You essentially took the quiet chick that only showed up two or three times a year and dragged me (sometimes not willingly at all) into the group. Without you I wouldn't have met any of these people, sure I'd have talked to them, but I never would have gotten close enough to call them friends. Sure there have been (and still occasionally are) times where I want to hit you with various objects, but I wouldn't change that for the world.

So yes, October that year was bad, and most things that we were have gradually disappeared, but we're more now. More then NS. More then just Absolution. I for one will stay here until the place disappears, because this is home, and we wouldn't have it at all without you. So thanks, you know, for that.

When Founders Go Bad is a great title by the way.
