So how does this regional government work?

No idea.

That's quite the question. :P

Laws in XKI are considered by the Council of 9, which is made up of the founder, the delegate, 3 ministers and 4 senators.
- The founder is Grub. That doesn't change. :P
- The delegate is Boltor. The main parts of the job are presiding over the entirety Foreign Affairs, keeping up to date in WA happenings and just making sure the region is running as well as it can be. This position is re-elected every 6 months, and the sitting delegate cannot run until someone else has had a shot at it.
- The 3 ministers are The candy lane (who might need a successor if he doesn't return to activity soon :P), Markanite and HumanSanity. They preside of the Departments of Labor, Education and Immigration, respectively. These positions have no term dates and each person is hand-picked by Grub.
- The 4 senators are Dominion of compassion, Coromandall, Lower Columbia and Ananke II. They all have specific duties they need to complete, which include managing the Houses, Political Parties, writing the Emissary reports and other such things. These positions are elected every 4 months, although alternately, so there are elections every 2 months.

Outside of the law, there are a few other arms of the government.
- While not a part of the government per se, TITO is the military of XKI. Grub is the head of TITO while Klopstock is in charge of running day-to-day operations. Others in leadership positions are Kanta Hame, Woonsocket, Witchcraft and Sorcery and Louisistan. Most of TITO is made up of regional forum-goers.
- The Regional Reserve, run by Woonsocket.
- The XKI University, run by Witchcraft and Sorcery with help from Hahiha.
- Various other positions, including the Mayor of Shelter's Taco Island, Registrar-General, Poet Laureate, Awards Czar, Roleplay Moderator, the Official Endorsers, and my position, a Pollster. :P

All of this is run on the regional forum. c:

Hurt is described as physical pain, words do not cause physical pain in the most literal sense. The law is there to protect your rights to life, words by themselves cannot end a life. Also not all rights are equal that is why freedom of speech was put FIRST in the bill of rights. Also feeling unsafe is not a reason to revoke rights, would you give up ALL your privacy if it meant no terror attacks would happen again? Freedom is dangerous, but i would rather die on my boots a freeman than live as a slave, or in the words of benjamin franklin Those who would trade their freedom for safety deserve neither.

I'm a stubborn person, so I'm not gonna change my mind, but you raise up a great point.

I like you.

This has got to be the first time a discussion of politics has ended like this. If everyone keeps up being this nice I may have to celebrate by doing something equally nice for my citizens, like abolishing slavery or introducing welfare.

Could you be a little more specific? I'd love to help, but I don't know what you think is getting sucky about your nation.

Let it tank, it'll get better over time... or not, but that depends on the choices you make on issues. I you make your choices pro business, favoring corporation over the environment et cetera, your economy will rise. But, if you favor the rights of workers, environment and so on more than you do the money greedy fat cats, your economy might tank even further. But who needs a great economy when your people are happily living in a stunning environment, right?

Not necessarily. I destroyed corporations, have a great environment but still have a very strong economy. :P

Well, depends how long you're willing to wait.

You can have zero economic freedoms, and build a state planned economy of incredible strength, but it takes a lot longer to get there, as essentially you have to subsidise, plan and direct everything from scratch, rather than just letting the free market do it.

In the long run, of course, your nation may look a lot better for the planned approach, if you have the patience. Just like real life. :)

Except for the tax rate. Please ignore the tax rate.

How to improve the environment without having much of an impact on the economy?

Deimosan wrote:How to improve the environment without having much of an impact on the economy?

Depends what you mean again. Your Economy score will tend to dip a little when you make pro-environmental measures, because whenever you put in restrictions on economic freedoms, your efficiency falls a little. However, if you have a robust enough score, that drop won't register.

So, two approaches:

One is the slow patient approach, where you accept any environmental measure that doesn't destroy your economy, and simultaneously encourage economic growth. This will likely be on separate issues, but you can end up with high stats on both.

The other approach is the change-direction approach, where you get a solid environment score sorted first, then set up the economy by increasing economic freedoms.

Deimosan wrote:How to improve the environment without having much of an impact on the economy?

I can do that, only I don't know how I'm doing it :P

I may go with option 1 since my economy score is 40 out of 100, I do want to get it better as well.

Civil disagreements and debate is the hallmark of a democratic and enlightend society and im glad it did not devolve into a pissing match, it was a good debate.
