Something that's been overshadowed by the Brexit news is the nearly finished peace process in Colombia unfolding right now. FARC is expected to put down arms soon if it goes through. This is a mixed bag from my point of view. They are moving to the right for sure and already talking about a more pan-left project rather than explicitly Marxist when they enter the democratic process there, which I expect will take the guise of a democratic socialism similar to the Chavistas in nearby Venezuela. A best case scenario I see out of this is Colombia joining other Latin American nations in the Pink Tide and helping push back the right-wing reaction these states have faced lately. However, the war has been brutal and after this length of time I imagine many FARC members (as well as others in Colombia) have simply become exhausted; I can understand the desire for reconciliation.
