Isn't the irony delicious?
Radical environmentalists do not see humanity as part of the natural biosphere, likening us to some alien invader with an exagerated ability to nullify physics.
Yet, conversely, their means tests for the "optimal" conditions they draft, is our comfort levels. Like the evolutionary destinies of the planet and us must be synchronous.
The fact of the matter is that we can affect the environment but very temporarily.
Abandon any major city, and nature will reclaim it within a century.
Let off the entire nuclear arsenal, and you get a really big wet sticky fart that makes makes you very uncomfortable, but open a window, and in several millenia, no one would know about your Taco Bell malfunction. Sure, you will not be around, but that is not really a concern for the geological timeline.
