Earlier today, Bolshevik forces captured multiple cities and industrial hubs under rebel occupation in Malkairelin. One report claims that nearly 200 Bolsheviks were killed during the fighting while the rebels suffered about 300 or so. So far, the military has refused to turn over captured territory to loyalist forces. Instead, the area is being fortified to serve as a forward operating base (FOB) for further actions. The military is, at this point, considering an air campaign against the rebels after they put up a strong defense in early battles. Overall, the beginning of the new intervention seems largely successful despite surprisingly high casualties in the first day of fighting.
