Region: Anarchy

Renewed dissonance wrote:The Singular Multitude strongly encourages all World Assembly members of Anarchy to vote FOR the current General Assembly resolution "Repeal 'Living Wage Act.'" The Living Wage Act subsidizes and supports the prison industrial complex by providing an exemption to its living wage requirements for prisoners -- the victims of forced prison labor are NOT covered by the Living Wage Act. In this way, the Living Wage Act serves injustice by providing a perverse incentive for states to further criminalize the poor and other marginalized communities in order to further expand the number of people falling under the prisoner exemption.

Condemn the prison industrial complex and defend the poor and marginalized. Vote YES on "Repeal 'Living Wage Act'" now.

Do you see merit in also opposing the most likely replacement (see here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=351867) on the same grounds? That one contains very similar language, though at least it does limit the prisoner exemption to those currently incarcerated, rather than opening the door to a permanent class of post-felony underpaid near-slaves. From a narrowly - ugh - political perspective, I imagine far too many voters still want the sweet, sweet taste of free prison labor to pass any bill that takes it away. The point is worth raising, though.

I knee-jerkedly voted against the repeal just prior to what the game described as my "seizure" of "power" from the able comrade Anarchadom - after all, relatively few real world countries guarantee their inhabitants as much income as what the target resolution mandates WA states ensure for theirs. All opinions welcome.
