Depends on whether or not you count that the Texas Ambassador to Canada won a medal.....

Esteemed friends in Wysteria!

For months on end, athletes trained their bodies to perform their artistry to perfection, and finally the spotlight is upon them. The press corps hangs around the banisters, trying to catch soundbites. Heads of State watch the Summer Games from the airconditioned seculusion of their VIP viewer lounges, while the populist ones wonder whether their stadium outfits allow enough freedom of movement to participate in The Wave. Shady sports officials celebrate successful deals and scout for new ones. Fortuna grants surprise advantages and failures. The audience paints their faces and waves flags.

But what about the scoundrels, wastrels and lobbyists? What about the hangers-on who ask you to buy them a drink so they can get you in touch with the State Secretary of so-and-so? What about the usual satellites, who tend to encircle your politicians at home? They are bored. The audience is too cheery. The drinks are too healthy. The politicians, their usual prey, are taking a break from running state affairs.

Send them all over to us for a visit! Let them party in The Skeleton Army. Tomorrow, August 19th, starts the very stealthily prepared surprise birthday party for our beloved Queen, Ramazakal. The birthday cake is in the oven. There will be drunken shenanigans aplenty. Come on over and hang out with us as long as you like, and have some drinks to toast to the Queen’s everlasting bony splendour. If your heads of state count themselves among the scoundrels and wastrels, they are of course very welcome as well to leave their airconditioned VIP viewing lounges in the stadium for a little bit, and celebrate with us. We hope the party will last a few days.

Canada was invaded, using a sleeper nation that spent about a year there pretending to be everybody's friend and loyal to the region, gaining endorsements and influence to make it easier to stage an invasion at the update. During the pile-on stage of non-updater WA nations endorsing the invader lead, someone got sloppy and several were found to be cheaters (WA multying), but were immediately replaced by other WA invader nations. The invaders cancelled all of Canada's embassies (replacing it with their own), password protected the region, and booted out around 50 natives.

Following the attempt by Canada to introduce a liberation resolution, control of the region was returned to the locals. However, many of the invader nations that took part in the invasion remain in Canada and many of them have retained their WA membership, making them capable of forming the basis of an army to retake the region again or using Canada as a staging ground for invading other regions.

Continued speed and agility and a pinch of luck to all the talented athletes in the Summer Games!
