If I remember correctly, Canadian New Brunswick was our link with the Cooperative Union. He's ceased to exist so we have no reason to exchange embassies with the new region.

The traveling regional helper wrote:Hi there! You guys need any help?

Welcome. I'm not familiar with your services. What help do you provide? If you would change the 'buck' request into pounds or euros and multiply it by a few hundred that would be ace. Otherwise enjoy your stay with us.

Not monetary help, but I get the joke.

Like, I guess, regional help.

Anarchy got regional help and are free at last.

Huh?

I can help you guys with your region if that's okay.

What would you like to do to help? Usually we're just here and make comments on the regional message board from time to time. Individually, we reply to the issues and try to make our nations the way we want them to be. This is a relatively mature region and we've found a level of activity that works for us.

Well. If you say that you guys chat a lot, I can implement a couple of features. If you're into roleplay, I can also assist you with that.

That is, if you want it.

Do you have to be in the WA to set up an embassy?

Regions establish embassies. Our founder is the person here to do that and he is not in the WA.

We do not have role play but there is an off-site forum that has ticked over these past 7 1/2 years. The sort of intellectual challenges found there include the alphabetical writers game where the first poster says Apollonius, the next comes up with Balzac and the third decides Camus will do. Not tooooo childish - most here are over 20 - and not too demanding - most here work and shouldn't really be away from official tasks for long.

Have a look at the off-site forum, then if you wish. The address is at the top of the page. We tried democratic institutions - little interest and too time consuming. Quick and easy is the order of the day. If you have any ideas, post them here or send me a telegram. Many thanks.

Blue Narcissus wrote:ha ha nationstates has noticed that glups are first for everything and have found a secret way for blue narcissus to be first for once.. anyhoo we all have government expenditure so since we don't have taxes where does the money come from?

Indirect taxation. Sales taxes, tariffs, things like that. Partially ownership of businesses would be more direct but this game doesn't compensate for it so it would fall under indirect. I don't even think there is an issue that deals with that circumstance. Too complex for us. We can only come up with countless redundant issues.

In my case, several business entities fight it out for political hegemony and whomever happens to "be in charge" at any given moment are considered the government.

Education is a common expense in a business association like the Mafia. It just isn't in the formal trappings you may be aware of in a traditional system.

welcome back

more training than education then

The level of education is dependent on the skill of the teacher and the curriculum, like any other.

and the aim, the spirit in which it's done

Centre Street wrote:and the aim, the spirit in which it's done

Quite. The mafia aren't about to reverse the triumph of utility in education.

Okay... Got it...

Thanks.

In any case I'd wager a graduate of the school of mafia can count change about as well as their high school equivalent in the US, and they get a job, on-the-job training and valuable skills that can be used even before graduation! In some cases the state might lock a student of the mafia into an extended study period but where else can you get a quality law education for free and room and board to boot!

I like the flag.
