Ocreasia wrote:Hey I have a question on the AI rules. If someone important were to die could I just put his consciousness into a robot?

The official Technological era is Post Modern Tech, slightly stretching into more future tech sci-fi for particular stuff.

Cyberpunk is probably a rather close thing if you have hard time imagining it. AIs exist but haven’t really turned into a mainstream thing that every single person have.

Weapons such like Railguns and Lasers exists but they are big and heavy so they are only really used on spaceships and vehicles. The regular militaries still mostly uses lead bullets or similar technologies.

We have fusion technology but we don't have flying cars or stuff like that

Ocreasia Yes the AI technology exist. We not to transfer the mind but one can coppie it before death. At least that’s the teach I think we have. But It’s really experimental and top-of the line stuff. Not something one does regularly. It would be more like a gambit. And I'm not sure if new nations are allowed to start out with such high-tech from the get go.

I also recommend that you don’t turn say a national Leader into an AI simply in order to have them around forever. People die and and the time passes, and no one's imagination ever suffered from having to invent a new leader now and again :P

Well I'm not trying to make someone live forever it's just that it's like life after death and he/she can still die again. If this is canon then there should be a limit or we should roll a dice to see if it actually works.

I think you should contact one of the admins Vanhania or Khalite for this special thing since hi-end AI is a bit outside of my knowledge :)

I agree.

Rpublic of thracia

ok so similar to present era technology

how often is the map updated and what program is used to make it

Rpublic of thracia wrote:how often is the map updated and what program is used to make it

The map is updated as regularly as Franz-mekkado is able.

I have a means to transfer the control cluster of my species into a genetically modified
life form that is an organic machine of war. The organic brain is merely transferred, so the person can still die.

Also:

When it comes to AI, it is my understanding that they must be few in number in contrast to the general population.
Practically non-existent, really; the real reason is because of limited power sources and technological levels of a nation.

New nations are discouraged to use technologies such as AI and other overreaching tech when just beginning. I don't
think I have to remind you all about a handful of other players who distastefully thought they would use their position
on the map as a safe haven with god-like technological advances and a multi-species empire which could not be harmed
by any nation, harbouring the ability to annihilate millions and travel vast distances in crazy little time. :I

But I digress; Tech level is something determined by time and In Character connections, so make friends by making enemies,
get tech from friends, go solo, or become a nation of Whores! (Looking at you, RU-Chan ;)) So have fun with it and don't take
IC stuff to heart.

FIRST DRAFT OF C.O.G. CANON AGREEMENTS: OFFICIAL RULES

1. Lerodas is the main RP world, and decisions that effect Lerodas are the most scrutinized.
2. On the main map (of Lerodas), territorial expansions are handled through the established Hex-Grid interface and the set of rules in the NS Forum Thread made by the regional Map Maker, which can be found on the World Factbook Entry of the CoG.
3. In the COG, new technology is always OOCly viewed with suspicion, because of its potential to unbalance the IC status quo and the world that has come to be. Introducing new/controversial forms of future tech without consulting the greater community is a quick way to receive negative attention.
4. In the COG, some forms of technology are already canonized OR excluded. Making cases for excluded technology is highly frowned upon, and unlikely to result in new cases for canonization.
5. Any player looking to create a new technology, no matter how small, should consult an admin.

TELEPORTATION: The technology to transport particles/objects/persons instantaneously over great distances is forbidden by canon law.

PSYCHIC POWERS: The innate ability for a person to be psychic is canonized, but restricted. In the C.O.G., beings exist that have strange mental powers beyond the norm. This subject requires more debate on what is and is not acceptable. The country most often associated with psychic powers is Rodorm, which is a country possessing of an entire species that can read and potentially control minds.

ENERGY WEAPONS: Handheld energy weapons, such as laser/plasma/particle guns are virtually nonexistent. Energy weapons are most often seen in large weapon platforms, such as vehicles or ships. Energy weapons have been extensively produced by the following countries: Vanhania, Khalite, Fraserland, and others to be added. (Those first three countries made such weapons famous in the COG)

ENERGY SHIELDS: Defensive devices that produce "force fields" are a highly regulated and debated subject which is not fully canon. Some countries have made energy shields, but it is not a fully canonized technology. The most commonly accepted form of "energy shield" are electromagnetic fields used to help deflect particles.

NANOTECHNOLOGY: Making nanobots into weapons is forbidden by canon law. Making nanobots a cheap and affordable technology is forbidden by canon law. Making nanobots for the purposes of super-fast repair or construction is forbidden by canon law (with the exception that repair/construction progress on a reasonable timetable.) The most realistic expectation of nanobot technology in the COG is for use in medicine. The country most often associated with nanotechnology is Spiritualiza.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: The creation of A.I. entities is canonized, and such entities already exist in several countries. For the sake of fairness, the aforementioned countries that have already produced A.I. are the front-runners of cutting edge A.I. technology, and newcomers to this technological field should not expect to suddenly dominate. The country most often associated with A.I. is Paixao, followed by Khalite.

GENETIC ENGINEERING: The creation of new lifeforms through genetic engineering is canonized, and such entities already exist in several countries. For the sake of fairness, the aforementioned countries that have already produced new lifeforms are the front-runners of cutting edge genetic technology, and newcomers to this technological field should not expect to suddenly dominate. The country most often associated with genetic engineering is Khalite, with other examples to be added soon.

FASTER THAN LIGHT TRAVEL: The fictional physics required to travel faster than light are canonized, in the form of "Slipspace" (Slip Space), which opens up another dimension through which to travel, allowing ships equipped with the relevant drive technology to travel lightyears in a very short time.

STARSHIPS: There is an internal debate going on about which countries should be able to acquire starships for military usage. Many veterans of the region are irked by the fact that some new nations that join immediately want to have a powerful "Space Navy" that can have real influence. As nice as it would be for everyone to have exactly that, there are now expectations that starships be treated as more "special" and less common overall. The front-runners of starship technology in the region's canon are: Khalite, Vanhania, Fraserland, Felkesjud, and to some extents Rodorm, Paixao, Sovaji, Canus, Fourmica mymexia, and Kraslavia.

But I will call it "cyberpunk/postcyberpunk tech".

Also - since what happen to Fabrium and changes in Khalite politics, and propably Paxian patents - having AI, especially high-end AI is rather dangerous...

Also:
"I also recommend that you don’t turn say a national Leader into an AI simply in order to have them around forever."
Isn't that literaly what Khalite done recently...?

No one but the AI itself knows this.

With all the nation's in economic crisises and recessions a global recession or depression in the 290s would be kinda cool

I like this idea! Developed nations stop buying resources as demand grinds to a halt and construction boom stops, developing nations go into recession, some default on debt, others' governments fall.

I am making a rough draft of the first blood post made by the theocratics and than a live speech from the Emperor. and will probably post on Tuesday pacific time. So please be patient.

and that is ok, if you want you can help take in refugees.

Yes :(

Unfortunately, I have been overloaded with work due to school. However, thanks to turkey day and my current sick day, map should be updated sometime today.

I would also like to remind everyone (though especially those new nations), that if an RP post corresponding to a map claim is not up, the claim will not be added to the map. You must have an RP post to make a map claim. It doesn't have to be a five-paragraph essay, but I will not put up claims without corresponding posts.

Hello, I'm relatively new to this game. If someone could give me a basic run down on the situation with this coalition is, and how I can lay claim to the political map, that would be great. Thanks!

Corpral Adam Tieres had forgotten about the time when had been down with maintenance. As a result he came walking through the hallway to the meeting hall till covered in dark spots of oil and grease. Two caretakers were standing in the hallway putting up a large poster by a noteboard. Adam slowed down to take in the image of the poster and read the text written on it.
“What the...” he uttered silently before walking into the great meeting hall which was buzzing with life.

The room was starting to fill up rapidly as more and more servicemen came in. After a short orientation he Adam found two men from his squad. Tanaka and Vester. They stood together chatting as Adam approached.
Vester was in the middle of some anecdote. “...so we had gone for a ride out by the coast and stopped to take in the view. And when we got out there, there was some random guy sitting stark naked by the roadside. Drying his clothes on the railing! Bloody weirdos man I swear. They are everywhere!”
“Those thing only ever happen to you!” Laughed Tanaka and hit his friend jokingly over the shoulder.
Adam put his hand on Vester’s shoulder. “What kind of horse dung are you spreading now?”

“I take offense to that, Sir!” exclaimed Vester with a smile splitting his face in two. “When have I ever lied?”
“I don’t think you can part your lips without lying.” jested Adam

Major General Paulo entered the room and positioned himself on a heightened extension so that everyone could see him. “I think the clock is about right on time.” said the general as the hall fell silent. “We’re pushing out these talks all over the place at the moment so I hope that as many of you will get this through your skulls by the evening.” The general smiled and there was a small chuckle from the crowd.

The general continued. “I’m glad to see that as many of you managed to show up. I take it that a good part of the 27th is here right?”

The gathered crowd sheered approvingly and Paulo waved it down with his hand. “It’s good to see that you’re eager because you will soon get the chance to make something of that excess energy of yours. You have all done excellent work here in Kvaenland since the war and it’s because of your great efforts that you have now been called to serve again under special circumstances. The 21th, 27th, 82nd and the 132nd Motorized-Rifles will be formed into a corps under the Peacekeepers. The Department of Foreign Field Support have under orders from the Reichs Council declared a new mandate for the Peacekeeper Corps in Felkesjud. The mandate is justified by the occurrence of social unrest as a result of unidentified belligerents conducting armed raids on Felkesweyric military elements and societal institutions."

"We have therefore been officially asked for help by the Felkesweyric government which is the reason for this mandate. As a part of the new corps you will be reassigned and transported to Felkesjud, within the shortest amount of time I might add. The higher ups wants this stone rolling as fast as possible which means that those of you with leave coming up will sadly see none of that. At best you will have until they call for the loading of the ships to contact your families and explain that you’ve been reassigned. If not you can simply send out the standard mail as I’m sure some of you lazy ones will.” The general smiled again but his face kept and underlying expression of seriousness.

Thank you so much! Also, being that my name is the United Socialist States of the New North American Federation, would that be an issue, since this region takes place on a different planet?
