I don't know that "elected" is the best word. Becoming PM just means that you are the leader of the largest party in Parliament. Since the UK voted the Conservatives into control of Parliament last year, whoever is their leader is also PM. David Cameron had led the Conservatives since 2005, and this was May's first attempt to lead the party.

It's all so different from US politics. I guess becoming PM is vaguely analogous to becoming Speaker of the House.

Thats true regarding the elected.

As to US vs rest of the world. It really depends on the country. In some cases you have US President vs EU Prime Minister and both have the same executive powers.
In other cases you have countries where they have president & prime minister and then the president has symbolic role. It really depends on the country.

But the point of my text above was that things have changed when it comes to picking your head of state.

Once upon a time it was about : I will vote for Mr. A will because he is going to promote my Agenda which is his Agenda.
Today its a combination of too many forces that not always belong to whether Mr. A can improve my life or not.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal "Liberate Utopia"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: SC#13 Proposed by: Ichu

Description: WA Security Council Resolution #13: Liberate Utopia shall be struck out"...

<see the Security Council for full text and to vote>

Ok, this is a stupid one. Apparently the author thought this was an "old" one and would do a little clean-up. Um, no. When this one came around in December, 2009, Texans were pretty much for it by a vote of 14 for, 3 against and 1 abstain and was written by a Texan at the time. We liked it because invaders suck. It should stand as a testament to that. As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was way up on the last SC vote -- Liberate California -- which was defeated after gaining only 42.21% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 9 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 9 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Friday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00am Texas Time on Saturday the 23rd. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 2658 Votes AGAINST: 4502

I'm with the Penguins here. We haven't had a leader serve a full term since 2007, and he lost his seat in his last election. And we've gone DOWN from that.

I've got a funny SEC joke right here:

Alabama fans like joking that Auburn is in Georgia. Auburn fans like joking that Tuscaloosa is in Mississippi. Who is correct?

I'm gonna go with Auburn in Georgia.

United States of Woodward wrote:I'm gonna go with Auburn in Georgia.

Yep, because there IS a city named Auburn in Georgia, but not a city named Tuscaloosa in Mississippi.

That's hilarious

What about that A&M joke Paul Ryan said at the convention?

I feel like this law is weirdly specific and useless to be honest

Hmm, we in Dennisov don't always agree with our Delegate's chosen direction, however on this issue we fully support the vote against such an intrusion of personal freedom.

Hmmm, doesn't the new News just make you want to go out and create a new nation? We haven't had a new nation in over 8 years. It might be fun to try and create one you like initially versus having to work very hard for 13 years and still not have it be right. What do you think Texas? Are you going to start making new nations based off the new technology?

I usually use NS++ to create nations in 5 seconds, but I might try it once or twice.

Not really, too much of an hassle.
But If Ill return drunk from a night out and wont have anything to do, I might be tempted to create a new nation and since I notice "Godzillas tokyo" ceased to exist several hours ago
Ill make a nation and will call it "Sharkando Texas".

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

WooHootie! Its is not only Saturday breakfast time, it is BaconFest! Man, oh man, is there any more glorious food than bacon? Bacon, bacon, bacon as doggies and kitties alike say! We could stop right here and everybody would probably be happy with all-you-can-stand bacon. However, we have some special treats for everyone today. We will start it off with a Rolling Stones favorite - Brown Sugar Bacon, Deluxe. We take genuine Texas thick-slab bacon, dip it in genuine Canadian Maple Syrup, lay it out on a rack, sprinkle it lightly with cayenne pepper and heavily with brown sugar and pop it in the oven until it is all ooey-gooey-chewy yummy. Mmm! Don't like chewy - not a prob - we have borrowed plenty of well-seasoned, jet-black, cast-iron skillets from the Skillets of Doom peeps and are frying both thick and thin to impeccable crispiness. Need a little more pig with your pig? Got it - we have bacon-wrapped L'il Smokies, bacon-wrapped sausage links, bacon-wrapped sausage patties a 'la filet mignon style and the mother of all pig-on-pig recipes - the Bacon Explosion! This beast is a lattice made of two pounds of bacon interwoven into a nice blanket and then wrapped around a roll of spicy hot whole-hog sausage infused with diced bacon and grilled to smoky, crispy perfection and sliced to order. We have single slice, double-cut, half-roll and the "Gimme A Whole One" - four pounds of pig-on-pig glory. Need a little something to go with your bacon? Not a problem. We have bacon bowls - bacon fried up into bowl shape and filled with your choice of egg - scrambled, baked or we will even fry an egg in that sucker. Don't forget to add a side of Bacon Cheese Grits to go with those babies or make it a whole meal. Grits don't get much better than when loaded up with bacon and cheese. Got a sweet tooth? We have you covered with our Bacon Glazed Donut! This buddy is a light as a feather yeast donut that is dipped in a sweet sugary glaze and then dipped in chopped bacon - think bacon sprinkles! Woo! Bacon Waffles round out the menu for BaconFest with Texas-shaped waffles chock full of extra-crispy bacon that is still extra-crispy after it is cooked. Top it off with maple syrup and your eyes will roll back inside your head over how yummy this is! Since we cannot think of a single juice that goes with bacon, there is No Juice Bar today. Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Come on down and start your day right Texas. You know you want to!®

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

Today is an amazing Texas Chat #600! That means for 600 Saturdays in a row (roughly) for the last 12 years Texans and friends from around The World (both IC and IRL) have been meeting on Texas' Chat Board. We have not missed a one. Frankly, we somewhat stunned ourselves. We have met a lot of kewl peeps over the years. Most keep coming back week after week. If you want to meet some too, Big Tex sez, check it out.

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours. The current record is a marathon nine hours and fifty seven minutes on July 9, 2016!

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 599 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 12 years! Check it out! Good stuff!

Maybe its for the best. Texas map is rather empty and need to be filled.
For example, we have no neighbors in Texas Prime (Big Bend Country) which enable us - hypothetically - to plunder all that is outside our boarders :)
