There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal "Living Wage Act"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: GA#21 Proposed by: Celsuis

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #21: Living Wage Act (Category: Social Justice; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out"...

Oh Boy, after a long wait, we are back to good ol' Repeals and this is an oldie, but baddie. Back in October, 2008, Texans disliked this one by a vote of 2 for, 13 against and 1 undecided. We hated this one. If we recall correctly, we said something along the lines of "we will not tolerate some two bit world governance organization turning our nation into some freaking socialist welfare state" or something like that. If you want to run your nation like you want to, this one has to go! As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was flat on the last GA vote -- Access to Humanitarian Aid -- which was passed after gaining 87.83% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 7 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 5 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were a little split on that one.

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Thursday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00am Texas Time on Friday the 28th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 4045 Votes AGAINST: 1345

Not really. Though when I first heard the name "Latveria" I wondered if it was a real country. It sounds like one of the Baltic states, at least. :P

Yay, another Repeals and this is another oldie, but baddie. Back in October, 2011, Texans disliked this one by a vote of 2 for and 9 against. We hated this one. It was after a fairly long string of conscientious objection legislation. We wanted the WA to just butt out of our military. If you too want to run your own military without the WA butting in, this one has to go! As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. **Texas Constitutional Update**

Texas Constitution: Article X.1 Amendment - Passed
Texas Constitution: Article X.2 Amendment - Passed
Texas Constitution: Article XII Amendment - Passed

The Great Region of Texas officially issues Congratulations to each and every nation that was elected, that ran, that voted, that viewed these proceedings! These were some great elections as usual. This Trimester, all Cabinet positions were uncontested. That means each and every candidate faced No Confidence all alone. Each and every one of them pulled out the win. It was really no shocker since we had all tried and true candidates with Texas Government experience longer than your arm.

In Texas Constitutional matters, we had three Constitutional matters up for a vote. It was all about the Texas Representative Council. The first one gives the TRC the power to create Constitutional matters that will go straight to a vote without debate or endorsement. That is a mighty power. The second one is about giving the TRC the right to participate in Alliance and Embassy debates along with the Cabinet. The third is a housekeeping measure of sorts that cause the most debate and was the closest vote that limits the number of members of the TRC to the same as the count of the Cabinet. There was a brief irregularity in the TRC race and two incumbents failed to make it onto the ballot. Big Tex automatically granted them their old positions back as a means of apology. The other four incumbents on the ballot won their race as well.

No Confidence was the big loser this Election. They did only receive votes in one race, but nothing significant. It is heartening to see No Confidence coming up short because that means we had a good slate. The Governor defeated No Confidence resoundingly and it was a relief to see no votes for No Confidence.

Please join us in commending all of Texas for their participation in this Trimester's Election! Once again, this Election saw more participation in the many of the trimesters or Trimesters in recent years. The turnout was awesome and we had speeches in all races. There were no tomatoes this Trimester, but that is Ok too. It is nice to see Texans pull together. Texans are still very much alive, yet older, and are a dynamic bunch even after all these years! Kudos!

Big cheers to all the returning Texas Representative Council members and returning Cabinet members! Farewell to the two departing ones, PatrickStar and Ole Dixieland (R.I.P.) your service was appreciated and we look forward to seeing you both again in the future! Special thanks to all who ran and if you didn't win, we hope you run again in the future.

Overall, this has been great fun and a highlight for all Texans. We look forward to seeing how the new freely-elected Government of Texas will make Texas bigger, better and greater than ever! Cheers to The Great Region of Texas!

The Announcement & Party is posted here: http://invisionfree.invalid.com/forums/Texas/index.php?showtopic=8944

Long Live The Great Region of Texas!

Big Tex
Governor of Texas

Thank you Texas for reelecting us to another term as your Lt. Governor!!!! Congratulations to all of the other members of the Texas Government on their wins as well.

***To give some back story and an explanation of why I left DEN***

Honestly, most of my social life is rough. It is moronic to me that other kids provoke, tease, and harm me just because I'm different. Some think I'm gay and others just think I am not right in the head. Others feel like they know that I am not actually terrifying. I have graphic, angry thoughts all because I didn't get the respect and cooperation that I deserved. I am psychologically disturbed, to be true. I feel tired of it all and now I can never consider whether I survive the trauma and get help or just quietly slip away.

I'm tired of it all and I am here to ask if you guys will respect my wish.

Here in Texas we are all free to be our true selves here as long as you aren't a raider, welcome to Texas and make yourself at home.
