Ok, look how damned your acting to NK.

Type 022 is a missile boat. Obviously not what Stahlarev has in mind.

I use missile boats. Sometimes.

Signing off now, night!

Wow. Daytime here.

Missile Platforms are simply IRBM sites, similar to Dreadnaughts in RA2. Except they have a much longer range, of course.

Thinking about it, my forces are depicted as 'Quality over quantity, very well trained', so i think i'd lower that number to 1 million active personnel, 1 million reserve. Vehicles would be of greater quality and lesser quantity.

Thinking about it, it was a massive number wank. I'll change it later. The budget would only be reduced slightly though.

Use SSBNs, Luke.

Urmanian wrote:Use SSBNs, Luke.

Those are usually nuclear, though. The ship needs to carry a lot more because it's not nuclear

Huh. You don't have nuclear energy? Never would've thought. I suppose a large SCUD-carrying cruiser would make sense in that case. http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/7858/1080f.jpg Soviets had something like that in mind.

We do, we're just not interested in being embargoed for nuking other countries.
Also, that ship:

THAT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING

We're aren't interested in Marine vehicles, as we have a slightly weak Naval force. We fight through the land and the air.

So uh. Use SSBNs to carry conventional, non-nuclear IRBMs?

NO HYDRIUM FOR YOU SUKAR. :o

Hobbiest republic

nuclear power for propulsion is a winning proposal. IF someone sinks your ship, accuse them of creating a hazardous zone created by the leaking reactors.

Issue #129: Tribal Troubles

A society of primitive natives have been discovered in the rainforests of Squeeheart. Various people have approached you with ideas on how the situation should be dealt with.

Squeeheart was once a land of primitives ponies discovered by others, and here they are now discovering other primitive ponies...

Right off the bat Options 2 & 3 are terrible, so those don't matter to me. It would be nice to have these ponies join our nation, but what if this proves too damaging to their culture and way of life? If we choose the Prime Directive method however these ponies may never develop into a better civilization, or worse.

you could leave them be

Well... *slams Wodka bottle on table* ...I heard you like missiles, so I put missiles on your missiles! ;)

Urmanian wrote:So uh. Use SSBNs to carry conventional, non-nuclear IRBMs?

While that would be a good idea, think of the cost.
The missiles aren't nuclear, so is it really worth using more expensive equipment to hide them? I mean, I know I shouldn't put all my missiles in one basket, but this basket is well protected and serves as the core of a fleet.

Besides, won't the SSBNs be easily intercepted because they're going to launch a lot, and i'm sure their location can be known because they transmit a lot more data than nuclear SSBNs.

Converted SSBNs are used IRL to carry and launch cruise missiles.

Urmanian wrote:Converted SSBNs are used IRL to carry and launch cruise missiles.

Well, they are converted. The navy wouldn't throw the ship away, but we never had the need to disarm our nukes in the first place.

I don't know. Maybe the submarine one is better. I could have both, but i'm afraid the hidden subs would have to go alone and they wouldn't have much to defend themselves with.

The fourth option does say that it lets individual tribe members choose whether they want to stick with their traditional way of life or join modern culture, so it's not like you'd be forcing them to abandon their heritage. It seems immoral to me to forbid natives from gaining the benefits of modern civilization because you would rather observe them without intereference like a scientific experiment in a petri dish.

If even the people raised in a culture would rather move out, then maybe the culture isn't worth preserving.

Worth preserving historical records of as a matter of academic interest (I'm really angry at how much knowledge of historical cultures and religions has been completely destroyed in pursuit of suppressing "blasphemy"), but not worth preserving as a living tradition.

I've already gone ahead and I'm not really seeing any problems with my decisions. In fact, the civil right in Squeeheart are going up!

I selected Option 4 for Issue #129 by the way.

Lyra and bon bon

"The Adorable Pony Principality of Princess Woona is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Pwincess Woona with an even hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space."

I suppose when a nation is led by a Moon Princess/Princess of the Night; an interest in outer space suddenly seems quite logical :D

I had selected Option #4 one time when I had this issue, the result was something like "indigenous tribes are dying out as their youth all move to major cities" or something like that. I do not recall it having any unexpected or drastic effects on my nation however.
