* Exclusive on the Balder Embassy Closure!!

The South Pacific Sentinal Newspaper is proud to bring you its first exclusive, today its about the Balder Embassy Closure. We speak to both sides and bring you South Pacificans a inside look.

First I travelled to Balder. We couldnt get hold get a statement from any Balder goverment official, but the World Assembly Delegate, The Ancient Nordics lands of Queen Solorni took time out to give us this statement on the Embassy closure.

"Well, the elected government of Balder has decided having a relationship with The South Pacific is currently not feasible. Firstly, we were shocked in Balder when TSP ended their treaty with us. Without any discussions with us, they decided to go ahead with a repeal and only informed Balder that this was going to happen while voting was currently underway."

As a new nation myself I wanted to know what The South Pacific was like so I got talking with The Cantankerous Curmudgeon of Belschaft about what kind of region The South Pacific was an he told me

"TSP is a diverse region, filled with people with different ideas and ideals. We try to work together on a collective and communal basis to maintain a pluralistic region that is welcoming of and open to everyone and anyone, while maintaining a laid back regional culture that doesn't take itself too seriously. Whilst we may near constantly bicker and argue, that's because we're genuinely democratic and diverse"

From what he told me, it showed me he was a passionate, proud and patriotic South Pacifican.

I travelled by plane to government states all around The South Pacific trying to get a statement from any government officials.

I eventually got hold of Local Councillor Pencil Sharpeners 2, from the South Pacific government he was kind enough to give this statement.

"As someone who's not particularly involved on either TSP's forums or on the NSGP forum, the embassy closure, and the reasons behind it, don't really mean much to me. It's unfortunate sure, but our foreign affairs don't really matter to the vast majority of TSP's residents - the only thing it's stopped us doing is posting on their RMB, which I don't think anybody did anyway. I didn't think of Balder much before this incident, and I probably won't think of them much after it either."

Later on that day The Minister of Foreign Affairs The Sparkly of Escade called me and went into depth about the core problems which resided at the heart of this debate.

"Before my term began a vote was already underway about ending the treaty and the majority of TSPers on the forums voted to end the treaty. My natural inclination is to try to make peace but both sides seem to be in the same place they were a year ago and at this time there doesn't seem to be any room for reconciliation. In the future? I hope so.
Here is what I think is the issue that TSPers have with Balder:

1. Balder seems to have supported the coup last year whether through military aid to the coupers and comments made by the monarchy that were pro-coup and anti-the current delegate and coalition

2. Personal conflicts between two prominent members of both regions that impacted both sides negatively

3. General refusal of Balder to provide a respectful statement that condemned the coupers and reaffirmed their belief in the sovereignty of the coalition.

I actually accidentally intiated the Balder embassy closure based on a post made by their representative but later learned that for TSP we don't always have gameside and forumside embassies coincide. However, when I cancelled the closure Balder initiated it.
I think the biggest issue has been a lack of communication of both sides that isn't repeating the same old things from the year ago. Not having been here a year ago, I feel like it's been frustrating trying to move past that."

Whatever happens with the after effects of the Balder Gate Scandal. It doesn't really look like it bothers either side. It looks like it was natural for two epic regions, with vast cultural differences to drift apart. Maybe in the far future they will establish better relations, or maybe not, No one knows.

Throughout my interviews, the people I have mentioned was surprisingly kind and honest the way they spoke to me, I was surprised at their honesty and how thoughtful they answered my questions.
