Hey, do you know of a version for Internet Explorer? Better if it is compatible with the extension to make everything comic sans.

Wicked teflon pan... That's an unusual euphemism. Hope you get what you want when time comes.

Well, can't really call her 'Wicked Witch of the West', now can I? She is a Zonenmädchen, after all. And not a witch.

I heard she wants our new president to pay her a visit.

Also, both my basic German and google translate fail to understand what a Zonenmädchen is. Something about zones and ladies, I gather. Could you expand?

the former German Democratic Republic, that is the eastern part of Germany affiliated with the USSR was called the "Zone". Its rather impolite but still used. a Zonenmädchen would be a girl from the GDR.

Oh I see now. My translation was OK, I just lacked the cultural background. Thanks for clarifying.

You can ask Porfirio Diaz. 30 years wasn't enough to begin industrializing Mexico and basically taking the country out of the medieval era. Yes, 30 years. Yes, he was reelected more than once. And yes, technically he was maybe a little oppressive.

Happy Thanksgiving to all American NSers! And hello to everyone else!

Sorry if my political views make any of you uncomfortable. And I do have to admit that I don't 100% agree with everything the new party proposes, but it puts an end to both populism and the confrontational social divide that has plagued my country's people for the last decade and half.

The worst that happened here in the States would be Watergate & Nixon, or Bill Clinton "getting some" from his office intern. It really lends perspective when you hear about people talking about actually oppressive/troubled governments.

Well, I know my way around Mexican History after basically studying it for three years and I have to say: "[...] little oppressive." wouldn't be the words I would use. And wouldn't call Mexico before him being in the medieval era, just a failed state and punching bag of everyone.

Depends on who your president is: Either a good idea or a bad idea.

The first non-Peronist in 20 something years. A little right-leaning, advocator of freeing the market and inserting the country in the world again, making friends with democratic countries, rather more oppressive ones like China or Russia.

Yeah, sounds like Merkel's new best friendzoned friend.
CDU/CSU is technically right of the SPD, which is traditionally a little left leaning (German politics are confusing, let me tell ya...), is pro-economy (the full explanation could serve as my doctor-paper), is a friend of diplomacy to solve conflicts (except the thing with the Tornados now), is technically democratic despite being from the Zone, but isn't afraid to crawl up the rear ends of the little Chinese man, while Putin sometimes is her gal pal and sometimes the devil incarnate.
All while being a teflon pan: Nothing sticks, everything was the responsibility of her ministers.

You know, I never had him as a Chancellor, I was born in 1992, so I can't claim to be a witness, but Schmidt Schnauze had at least a bloody spine, not the bad excuse for one those guys today have.

Ah yes German politics dont get me started, you have to be left-leaning. If you remain centre or start being more what is commonly known as a little conservative, people get eyes the size of plates and shout "NAZI!"

Here, Peronists will call you 'gorila golpista' (something like coup d'etater gorilla) if you are not Peronist. The funny part is that the ruling Peronist party members are calling for a boycott to the province of Cordoba, because they only got 27% of the votes there. Also they are already calling for a protest the 10th of December, the day the new president will be put in office. All of this is done while claiming they are the epitome of democratic progress.

Sadly true... showing nationalism is an even worse idea. Heavens, calling our national football team the Nationalmannschaft has been forbidden. It's now just "Die Mannschaft".

Aye its ridiculous, I found myself sitting in a politics class, with a sheet from the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (Federal political education office, which is supposed to animate people to get involved in politics and support those which do) and wondering if saying what I really thought would in any way hurt my ambitions to join the diplomatic corps. That is sad, considering we proudly call ourselves a free democracy :/

On another note, the rp, hows everything going?

Hows every one doing from my perspective it looks like everyone is in the middle of a political debate.
(It will be nice to see how this will end out)

Doing fine. Some friends of mine gave me WoW as a gift for my birthday (tomorrow). Today I sat for the Speaking part of my Cambridge Proficiency Exam (an English exam that's difficult and has a fancy name).
