Well, I have recently began taking Krav Maga lessons and I have to say that it is awesome!

Some resolutions are quite good.

I hear you. Hope you put it to good use.
But be careful. There are many charlatans out there, who claim to teach KM while in fact they just teach you BS. Make sure your teacher is at least second Dan.

Strange, I'm pretty much in the same boat for different reasons. I've never voted in favor of any WA resolution....

This is where I go: http://www.360kravmaga.com/krav-maga/

Local law enforcement from every nearby department go there as well as US military men from local installations (mainly the National Guard). Supposedly Federal agents also train there but I personally have not met any.

shalom, we are home

This looks legit. Good luck!

Shana Tova to everyone here! May this year bring you prosperity and happiness. And don't forget: be nice to your fellow dolphin :)

Shalom!

Okay...well how about Shabbat Shalom then?

And now a Shavua Tov....is this region frozen in cryogenic stasis or something? Where is everybody?

A grand welcome to The Theocracy of Neo-Kahanists. Most of us just aren't very active, or apparently, very social...

I suppose not, but we are also understandably busy with our Holidays... Thank you for your welcome!

Still trying to explain to the people I work with that I need more than one day to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. And they''l never understand what year it actually is...

Never mind Rosh Hashanah, how about explaining to the Boss why I need off for another 4 days ( after already taking off 4 days for R"H & Y"K) so I can sit in a hut that I built in my backyard and shake my Lulav & Esrog. Good grief!

It could be worse~you could have a boss who does understand~and wants to know why you're not building the hut this year!

Actually, a Boss like that, I wouldn't mind.

Tell me about it being understood regarding taking Shabbos off is tough enough in my town

Do like I do, find a goy'im to swap days off with...

You know, guys, there's one place in this world where all of that isn't a problem at all. You might have heard about this place. It's called ISRAEL .
Why not make Aliyah?

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Turned out I was too American to make it there...

The cost of decent housing is atrocious right now; and let's face it, the job prospects for non-Hebrew speaking foreigners are dismal. Besides that, the thought of leaving my elderly family here in the US is also difficult...

Excuses... excuses... Do you really think that it would be harder for you than it had been for the Chalutzim in the 1900s-1940s? Would it be harder for you than for the Soviet Jews in the 1990's? I don't think so.

If you will it, it is no dream. I'm sure you know who said it. The truth is, you do not want it.

Look, it's perfectly fine for any of our people to choose where they want to live, but at least be honest about it. You love the idea of Israel. You love it that you have a backup plan in case some Nazi rises to power where you live, but why not let others carry this weight in the meanwhile.

It's not this difficulty or that difficulty. It's that you simply don't see the need. You don't hear the call. Members of our people have always made excuses for falling short of our people's mission and shared destiny. Even in the 1930's in Germany. Even in the late 1940's in Arab countries.

Be safe, my friend, and Chag Sameach.

Just don't think putting all of our eggs in just the one basket will solve the problem either, not with wackos on the same continent on the verge of developing the bomb. Respectfully disagree that there is only one mission for our people, there has to room for other visions. The Diaspora has other reasons and other effects for us.

I wouldn't change the time I spent in Ertiz Yisreal, but it ain't for everybody, never has been, never will be...

You seem to have figured out very quickly how to talk to her without getting her mad... :P LOL

That's kinda offensive, but never mind.

Everyone should live where they want. There's no, and cannot be, any argument about that. My original comment (before H's preach) referred to your complaining about the difficulty of the Jewish holiday season abroad. To that I just added that you'll have no such problems here. No more, no less.

However, there can be no argument that the Zionist aspiration (I wouldn't use H's phrase of a "mission") is to gather all the Jews back in our ancestral homeland. So if you're a Zionist but live in the diaspora, that may cause a bit of cognitive dissonance. Also, when you sing at the end of the Seder "L'shana Haba'a B'Yerushalayim," what exactly do you mean?
