The one and same

The second to last weekend in the world of Football has created much angst: Hotspurs lose only to watch Man City and Arsenal tie leaving then in possession of second and the Gunners in control of third. Man U with a game in hand can knock their rivals out of the top four.

Meanwhile in Spain, Atletico botch their chance at the La Liga title allowing Real Madrid an opportunity should Barca falter.

Man U takes nary a shot early but two find the net as West Ham United play their final in Upton Park. A flurry of activity from 72' to 81' sees the active Hammers prevail 3-2 dampening the Red Devils drive for a top four finish.

Barcelona: Club Defeats Granada, 3-0, to Clinch 24th La Liga Title.

Luis Suárez scored a hat trick to lead Barcelona to a second consecutive league title. The club outscored its opponents 24-0 over the final five matches to beat Real Madrid by one point on the table.

Meanwhile our hearts mourn with Real Madrid: At Least 16 Die in Attack on Club Supporters at Café in Balad, Iraq, Reports Say
Gunmen attacked Real Madrid supporters in a café in Balad Friday, leaving at least 16 dead and over 20 injured, reports say. The Islamic State group has reportedly claimed responsibility.

ESPN - Sevilla lifted the Europa League trophy for a third successive season by beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final in Basel, Switzerland, on Wednesday night.

Liverpool squandered the chance to end an 11-year European drought, while Sevilla qualified for next season's Champions League group stage despite finishing seventh in La Liga.

ESPN ~ Barcelona win the Copa del Rey

Extra time goals by Jordi Alba and Neymar saw Barcelona win the Copa del Rey. Each side had a man sent off -- Javier Mascherano and Ever Banega -- in a goalless normal time before Barcelona took control. Lionel Messi set up both goals

Does anyone hear think DEN and the other great raiding regions will come back?

Post self-deleted by Naginii.

DEN is dead and banned by the game from ever being raised again. It should never have been raised from the shadows that Al and I left it in in the first place.

Now, it's for history. As it should be. The players made those groups what they were, and they've all mostly moved on. You can't recall history and bid time to return....

Those responsible for DEN's destruction have been swept away, but the survivors, not guilty of crimes against NS hypocracy, are creating new stories raiding for the game's current crop of "great raiding regions" ;)

In other news:

Manchester United gets the Mou it's always hated. Wait'll he parks the bus. Mata likely looking to be first casualty.

That's good to hear

Atleti misses a penalty at 47' then scores to eventual tie Real 1-1 after 120' only to miss a penalty at the end giving Real Madrid the UEFA Championship.

*sigh*

I saw you guys had an embassy with Asgard and just thought I'd drop in to say, "Hello". I hope all is well with you guys.

This is where I come to get my sporadic soccer updates.

The Highlander 1, "the End of Raiding" seems to be a bit pessimistic. Drop by The Drunken Bitch Bar some time. It'll be good to see you haunt the halls again.

Copa America predictions:

- Colombia over USA
- Costa Rica over Paraguay
- Brazil over Ecuador
- Peru over Haiti

H

Columbia expose USA's lack of quality forwards and timid offense by attacking throughout and winning an easy 2-0 decision.
On the plus side, the Red White and Blue played physical on defense but must worry that only 15% of first game losers move on.

Copa America Report: Not surprising the Latin tendency to fall and roll on the pitch along with kicking the ball ‘that-a-way’ dominated much of Saturday’s matches. Costa Rica looked dull in their tie with Paraguay whereby Peru redeemed herself with a late quality goal to top Haiti. Americans can smile at the tie lest the hosts fall too far back in the group stage. Brasil provided fans of the European style some quality football though sorely lacking the finishing touch of their Olympic bound forwards. The Ecuadoreans attained the draw, which for them, count as an upset over the five-time World Cup champions.

Sunday’s predictions are 1) Jamaica tie with Venezuela; 2) Mexico upset Uruguay.

Copa America:

Day 3 of the tournament was the day of the Red Card as three players were sent off. The most ignorant was the Jamaican's Red followed by the manager being shown the box seats despite knowing the referee pulls a red every other game. Losing 0-1 to the Tinto Rojo may be too much for the Marley brothers given their star's off the field irresponsibility.

The Mexicans dominate Urugauy throughout though the game was in the balance as late as the 85' mark when both teams were down a man. Quality play by both teams kept the Mexican fans loud. Alas, Urugauy lost their composure and one wonders if they can rebound from the 1-3 loss.

Tonites predictions: Panama and Argentina to win.
