The second brotherhood of planets

The Akasha Colony wrote:Chill out. It hardly matters so long as I have the password, and the WA delegate doesn't have any executive powers anyway so even if the raiders show up and take the delegate's seat, it doesn't matter.

At any rate, yeah crisis averted. If you look at other regional message boards, there has been a strong fear of getting raided. My post was partly in jest.

If the Founder is absent the WA Delegate automatically gets executive powers.

It's true that as long as Chris still has the login no raider group can have any long-lasting impact. But they can still graffiti up our WFE and make a general nuisance of themselves.

I think that I've finally found a suitable national anthem for Czechanada: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrKMiE9WII0

RIP to all of the Brothers and Sisters who lost their lives this morning in Orlando.

Seriously some of these issues carry so much nonsensical 'lol got you!' twist to them that its makes them a chore to even read/go through.

Eh, I'm used to that happening. Every decision I make in my life ends up coming back to haunt me, even the mundane ones.

Neither of those things are good things.

It may, but not for a while. The SNP doesn't have enough strength to force a referendum unless they win more seats in the Scottish Parliament in the next election. They're definitely committed to one now, but both the Conservatives and Labour are opposed and the SNP no longer has a majority on its own to pass the legislation needed to hold one.

Didn't Scottish Labour support the Remain vote, along with the Tories and SNP? Who is to say they won't band together and push to get Scotland back into the EU?

It's part of both opposition parties' stated platforms for Scotland, as well as their national platforms, to oppose any such referendum. Labour opposes such a referendum at least until the next round of elections (in 2021, and they will probably renew that plank in their 2021 manifesto), and the Conservatives oppose it categorically. It is literally the first and largest part of the Scottish Conservatives' 2016 election manifesto: no second referendum.

On top of that, for the referendum to be binding would require the approval of the British Parliament. Of course, the Scottish Parliament could hold a non-binding referendum to prove its point and broad support on its own, as technically even this referendum is not legally binding, there is technically no legal mechanism preventing Cameron from simply ignoring the result (although it would obviously destroy whatever remains of his legitimacy). The first referendum was allowed by Parliament for largely the same reason this one was allowed: to tamp down on pro-independence sentiment by decisively proving that a majority of people did not support leaving (despite SNP's claims at the time). That time it worked, this time it didn't.

Stop bursting my bubble.

Was surprised by the UK vote to leave the EU. Personally, I think it's terrible for both.

Apparently it surprised a lot of people in the UK, too. From what I've heard from my friends across the Pond, everyone was expecting the Remain vote to carry the day by a narrow margin.

The strangest thing about this whole referendum is it turned decent people into Ultranationalist twats. If you don't support Brexit, then you are their enemy, regardless of how long you've been friends.

It's much the same here. Trump supporters have the same "with us or against us" mentality that Brexiters have.

Reactionaries were seen escorted out of the Diet building. It was believed that Tenno Sugihito has punched a leading reactionary after his son was called a "green-eyed mongrel". In recent days reactionaries became active in response to foreign hostilities, especially sent the Tenno's Elf wife returned to her home country. Observers noticed the Tenno not shaving for more than a month now.

Upon hearing of the report that Czechanadians are the smartest in the region, the Ministry of Education has offered to send Czechanada's pedagogical experts to every member of the region to export their knowledge so that everyone can enjoy the intelligence of the Czechanadians.

While Her Imperial Majesty appreciate's Czechanada's offer, the Empire must decline. Estruia's people do not need Czechanada's kind of intelligence. The Empire is finally at peace, and we don't need the peasant class getting any sort of ideas from Czechanadian radicals.

For all that our Czechanadan friends may be smart, the UPT recalls the past follies of their leadership and will take their advice with due caution.
