You guys were there when this all started: when I first began playing Nations at the beginning of my undergrad, so I guess you guys deserve some of the credit!

Congratulations soon to be Doctor Jones. Now you can get a Barbie Girl. No more hanging out with Cartoon Heroes.

The saulteaux republics

The Saulteaux Republics continue to face economic hardship, as the Saulteaux economy shed over two-thirds of its worth overnight. The few Saulteaux who managed to become wealthy during the Republics' short-lived time of growth were hit hardest. They have lost everything, and have been punished by the Ministry of Finance for what has been called, "dangerous manipulation of the Saulteaux economy." Several were exiled to nearby countries, while those who remained have been jailed indefinitely pending a Ministry investigation.

Despite the setbacks, the Saulteaux Republics remain strong, their people are fed and its leaders ever-fearless in their valiant fight against Capitalism and Consumerism.

Perhaps the Confederacy should utilize whatever currency/resources are left to invest into public transit, agriculture, or manufacturing? If most of the population is low-income, public transit is crucial infrastructure as it allows them to travel across the nation or at least across a region, depending on how well-developed and convenient the transit system is. The Brotherhood would be honored to assist in this noble endeavor.

The Saulteaux Republics may also want to consider emphasizing in agriculture to help preserve its own self-reliance or provide resources that can be the foundation for its place in the international market. Industry may also be a good choice, if only to develop technology or allow your population to uphold some luxuries.

EARTH ORBIT, SEVERAL HUNDRED KILOMETRES ABOVE CZECHANADA

The son of Eman Nasralvhrnec, Vasil Nasralvrnec, stands aboard the bridge of the battlecruiser Palacinka

"At last, we're ready to send off to Jakku! All ships are on standby and ready to jump to our first node of the journey. Send a message to Parliament and the other nations that we are proceeding as planned."

"Aye, aye, admiral!"

Vasil turns back towards the viewing screen as one crewman counts down: "3... 2... 1..."

A series of blue fields appears in front of the ragtag fleet of a battlecruiser, an infantry carrier, a colonist carrier, a couple of frigates, and some private civilian ships (a few of which have been clumsily outfitted with pirate flags, sails, and makeshift weaponry.) The blue fields slowly envelope the wayward vessels as they begin to disappear into the vacuum of space...

The saulteaux republics

Huzzah! The Republics have rebounded! Our economy has slowly crept up to surpass that of Real-life Germany, and now sits at $4.5 trillion! This just proves that the Most Glorious People's Revolution has been a resounding success, despite some growing pains! We are the Vanguard; we shall never fall!

Okay.

Also, I had surpassed Germany, and was $100 billion behind Japan. My population was on par with that of Japan (give or take some), so yeah. I'm going to feel accomplished. Considering I started out with an absolutely wrecked economy, I have rebuilt it without having to give in and compromise the Revolution.

The stonewall federation

Stonewall First News - Breaking News - Stonewall Federation Passes Bill For Muhr's Secession; Spurs Election Woes

In a stunning move today, The stonewall federation Senate and House of Representatives both passed the Secession of Aelian and Muhrian Territory Act in a veto-proof majority, effectively granting recognition to the Stonewall independent republic. Senate Majority Leader, Danny Biar (Lee - Constitution Party), applauded the vote at a press conference following the vote.

"Our constitutional federation was founded through secession, however we had to fight a bloody civil war to achieve independence," Biar said, "We ought to remember that, and make it easier for liberty and independence in far away colonies. Although I have treasured the membership of Stonewall Muhr and Stonewall Stornkold in our federation, they are a distant colony that should have a say in their government. The Secession Act grants recognition to the Stonewall Independent Republic, and will mandate the Chancellor remove it from the Disputed Territory list of the State Departmnet. Furthermore, it grants Muhr the legal right to secede should their citizenry choose to, without any bloodshed."

Chancellor Theodore Jackson condemned the Act, citing that it will set a dangerous precedent, "The Secession Act, although targeting our Stornkold territory and Muhr territory, will set a dangerous precedent for any planetary member in our federation to walk away should they disagree with a decision made."

Jackson vowed to veto the Secession Act, however the House passed the Act 4,121 to 879 and the Senate passed the House version in a 24 to 14 vote, both more than the 2/3 majority required to override the Chancellor's veto. House Majority Leader, Ruth Ulic (23rd Cleburne - Stonewall First Party) promised to bring the response bill to the Chancellor's veto as soon as the veto goes through to ensure a peaceful transition of government in the two territories.

"It is urgent we override the certain veto from our Chancellor," Ulic urged in an address to the House after passage of the bill, "Otherwise we open the territories up to certain violence from the Chancellery's office. Senate Majority Leader Biar has assured me he has the same convictions to have an override vote as soon as possible."

In the election initiative in Stonewall Muhr yesterday, the citizenry overwhelmingly voted in favor of secession, 86% to 14%. Protesters could be seen in front of the Muhr capital protesting with signs demanding freedom from a far away government.

The division between the Chancellor's office and Congress has further widened due to this Act, although the Constitution Party and Stonewall First Party hold clear majorities in both houses and the Chancellor himself is a part of the Constitution Party. Vice Chancellor Don Flashsk, a member of the Stonewall First Party, has vowed to challenge Jackson in the general election. Ironically enough, both parties hold very similar ideologies, contrasting themselves sharply with the Federation Whigs, Republican Party, Conservative Party and the Liberal Party.

"It's certain to be a blood feud between both the Constitution Party and Stonewall First Party," Stonewall University political analyst Bob Snoose observed in a phone interview, "This could be the year both the Liberal Party and Federation Whig Party gain more seats back. The Republicans will likely hold on to their two seats in the Senate, however the Constitution Party and Stonewall First Party could lose their majority if they do not show a united front. At this rate, Chancellor Jackson could even face a primary challenger from the Constitution Party, likely Danny Biar himself."

Although the primaries for the six political parties in the Stonewall Federation do not begin until April, the Conservative and Republican Parties are unlikely to nominate a Chancellery candidate. The Conservative Party will likely back a Federation Whig candidate and the Republican Party will likely back the Liberal Party candidate as they have the past three Chancellery elections. There has not been word yet on who the Federation Whig Party will nominate.

Your nation is supposed to be FT, right? And you're comparing it to MT economy and stats? Especially considering FT population growth/size/charts vs their MT equivalents?

GDP Per Capita... Do people value it anymore?

"GDP Per Capita: $79.12"

Czechanadians probably don't.

The Saulteaux Republics are MT-ish. They were a colony of Estruia, but for the most part, they are MT. The only FT technology that they've actually retained is interstellar communication systems, and a few colony ships capable of traveling around the Solar system. So, I guess a more accurate classification would be PMT?

Your Revolution failed so hard you reverted back two tech tiers.
That's just plain impressive.

I wouldn't call it PMT just because they have a few FT toys laying around. More like, MT...with some FT thrown in for reasons.

The Saulteaux Republics were never included in Estruia's FT classification, lol. They were just used as a resource hub, much like Africa was for the colonizing powers of the 19th century.

How do you pronounce Saulteaux? It's been coming off as "Salty" for me, but that just conjures images of an overweight gamer too irritated at his deathstreak.

Well NS gameside has no concept of tech levels. And NS RP forums largely ignore game stats, though I think the GE&Ters pay some regard to them.

Yeah I saw that too. And sure, 35k on my end isn't exactly impressive and still counts as "in terms of MT," but it's also First World status. There are a lot of nations with Imploded or Developing Economies who claim to have worldships and uber powerful superweapons, but I'd like to think that their ability to maintain such weaponry and ships isn't all that likely compared to the economy my nation is sporting... :P

Yeah I'm gradually realizing that. And yet I find it counter-productive to world (universe) - building. Not every spacefaring nation has to have Uber tech that lets it cross galaxies in a single bound, or be able to destroy them for that matter (I've seen lots of galactic-scale nations), and not every MT nation has to be a cross between the Soviet Union and Sparta that can field huge armies at the drop of a hat. Countries with small territories like Singapore will make a difference. PMT nations can make their mark in history like the one in that Star Trek The Next Generation Episode "The Inner Light." All kinds of nations can provide interesting scenarios and, for the sake of RP, story arcs.

.... Yet everything I just said is moot. Oh well. That won't stop my negging! :D
