"When you wake up in country where right-wing parties are celebrating you know that something is wrong" - interviewed English girl :O

Britain is for new referendum. Hell no. You choosed to leave EU. Leave it! Go!

Soft penalty in the second minute.....karma for Thierry? Good game but I think France had plenty in reserve. John o shea should have been on and he would have prevented those goals...but France rightfully go through..They were my favourite for winning the tournament, Germany in second.

The animals rising sun on atm....cranberries on previously...6 cans of guinesss 2 bottles of nice bordeaux red and all I'm left with is 2 cans of exelsior lager I bought to keep the slugs off my strawberries

Barling wrote:Good morning friends,
I have come here due to the recent Brexit result.
Not only did this result sicken me, realising that my own people gave into racism, xenophobia, fear mongering, and just plain lies. It also hurts me knowing that we'll never be part of such a wonderful organisation again.
On behalf of all Europeans, I apologise. For some reason Britain always has to think it's the better country, it's honestly saddening.

Educgi wrote:I don't see how chosing to leave the eu is racist and xenophobic

I did not vote for "Brexit" or leaving the EU, however I disagree with characterising the 52% of the population that voted to leave the EU as having racist or xenophobic reasons for their voting choice - I refuse to believe that such a large percentage; indeed a majority of the British public, has such character flaws - Atleast I hope not! - Sure some people did vote to leave the EU for such reasons, but it would have to be a small minority, otherwise the more outwardly racist, and xenophobic, political parties would have won more votes in previous local and national elections, and they barely get enough votes to stay on the ballot!...

As for the element of Fear, I believe we all make decisions based atleast in part on fears, anxieties, passions, and emotions, all of which are by definition somewhat irrational...

Woschia wrote:What's wrong with UK leaving EU? Your post is not opinion, but propaganda. You're trying to tell us that Brexit is so bad and that British people are so much anxious and depressed. It's not big deal. No worries. Edu'guy is right. Leaving EU will not bring this right-wing people to power. Even if it happens what's so wrong.
I don't want to point on anyone, but this post...

You are right Woschia, but emotions were and are heightened; passions stirred; fears and anxieties were and are running riot - People are being so irrational; they cannot think straight and objectively; like you can as an outside observer - In time, things will calm down, and then we can sensibly plot a new path ahead for our country...

Barling wrote:The leave campaign based their whole argument on lies...

Woschia wrote:It's no secret that stay-supporters based their campaign on lies too.

The hysteria raised by both sides stimulated the production of lies and propaganda by both sides, in this atmosphere the vast majority of voters were overwhelmed by a lack of objective facts and clear trustworthy information, and thus voted with their gut feelings and hearts, rather than their heads, because their heads did not have access to sufficient data to make a sound judgement - This was the case for voters who chose "Remain" aswell as those who chose "Leave"...

I have considered that option before, because of what Iceland did to their Bankers after the Financial Crisis of 2008 - Admirable!

In America, it was sad. Jailing peaceful protests instead of the bankers that committed financial crimes. We need to be like Iceland!!!

Barling wrote:The leave campaign based their whole argument on lies. "too many immigrants" "these migrants are ruining our ruining our country". All their buses said "we give £350 million to the EU every week", when in fact, it was proven to be a lie. It's funny that they actually changed it to £50 million somewhere throughout the campaign. It's not propaganda, it's fact. A whole campaign was based on lies, and now the leave campaign are going back on their word. I'm hoping Scotland take the UK seat at the table, if so, I'm off on the next plane to Edinburgh.

Some people think it's good that the UK left the EU, but after the results of the vote were announced, the British Pound's value dropped like a stone, going from almost double the value of the Canadian Dollar, to as close as it has ever been to it (about $0.57 CAD!) And the Euro did almost the same thing, going from about $0.60 CAD, to $0.70 CAD! So economy wise, Brexit was VERY BAD!!!

Economic fluctuations such as this can and do happen, not usually as a result of a conscious choice, but they also usually stabilise and rectify themselves given time...

It may be a coincidence, but lots be people don't think so. And even if it was, most people don't think either currency's will recover from this sudden drop!
But I have to be honest, I think the British people made a HUGE mistake by leaving the EU! They may have caused a chain reaction, with nations like The Netherlands, Greece, Italy, and Denmark all threatening to have there own Nexits, Greixts, Itexits, and Dexits! It doesn't look like the EU will last for much longer!

"For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth, it would look like complete destruction." - Cynthia Occelli

Perhaps the EU needed this shock; this threat; this potential to come completely undone; this apparent destruction, so as to achieve change, growth, to progress to a stronger future - Optimistic I know, but an idea worth entertaining...

It's just a jolt due to the event, its a relatively normal thing for stuff like that to happen, now if it continues to crash, expect to have a worse economic situation than here in Greece

Chile 0- Argentina 0: Argentina’s Higuain misses an open shot at 20’ as both teams begin the match with tight play and the resultant fouls. Otamendi then misses a header off a Messi free kick at 24’. Chilean Marcelo Diaz picks up a questionable second yellow at 28’ to be sent off and drop Chile to ten men. At 43’ Rojo gets a straight Red for a hard foul by a referee who seems to have had a difficult job managing the match. First half statistics: 16 fouls; 5 yellow and 2 reds. The second half began with more tentative play with Chile having the better possessions. Sergio Aguero had two opportunities as a sub for Higuain but each landed in the upper deck. The second half ends in a scoreless tie despite Argentina’s overwhelming edge in shots. Extra time became more vibrant and open as Romero makes a great save against a Chilean counter. At 100’ Messi sends a free kick that Aguero heads that Bravo finger-tips over the bar. For a while it looked as if a goal would be scored but instead the cup is to be decided via penalties for the second year in a row. In Penalties Romero saves Vidal’s first attempt only to be followed by Messi missing the goal altogether. Bravo saves Biglia’s shot and Silva’s shot seals the championship for Chile.

Belgium 4- Hungary 0: A Belgium set play at 10’ results in a solid header by Alderweireld for the opening goal. Although Hungary had the edge in possession in the first half, Belgium had three times more shots. At 35’ a De Bruyne freekick glances off Kiraly’s fingertips and off the crossbar as the Red Devils continued to press forward but still short of stretching their advantage. In the second half much the same except at 65’ when an attempt by Pinter was saved by Courtois showed some Hungarian life. And then it was over: Michy Batshuayi comes in for Lukaku at 76’ and finds himself undefended to take a crossing pass for goal at 78’. Moments later Hazard 80’ dribbles through the pitch to strike from the top of the box and net a third goal at 80’. Goal number 4 comes off Carrasco strike off a counter attack at 91’. Since the opening loss to Italy Belgium has three wins with 8 goals while ceding none.

Messi is the Leonardo DiCaprio of soccer. A superstar, yet can't win that elusive award or champion that defines you. Now, Dicaprio got an Oscar, but Messi needs a championship now.

If anyone has watched the latest Game of Thrones, these are spoilers in a Paradox-esque event tree. I wish Paradox would make a GoT game. But mods will have to suffice, I guess.

– Form the Kingdom in the North! [✓] Hold Winterfell, [✓] House is Stark, [✓] Gain support of half the northern Houses.

– Ascend to the Iron Throne! [✓] Current ruling House no longer exists, [✓] Holds control of the Capital.

– Destroy the Faith Militant! [✓] High Septon dead, [✓] No active Faith Militant armies in the Capital.

– Invade Westeros! [✓] Have 1000 ships, [✓] Have dragons, [✓] Westeros currently divided.

The Third Westerosi Civil War has begun.

And, my God, that was the best television I've watched in years.

What were the arguments for the UK leaving the EU again? All I could come up with was immigrants. Was this all?

And now there are people in France thinking of a Frexit too.

The last thing we need is another nation leaving the EU. So I beg of you, don't talk about it.

But before we stop talking about it, I absolutely love this video:
