I am also considering simply making that the language, and working it to my history somehow. However, this would be a massive cop-out and I'm not sure I'd stoop that low.
Based on your location, I think it would probably be better if you use Koy/Korean as your official language. For Vietnamese, given the location of other Vietnamese-speaking regions, it would probably better if you are located on the other side of that part of the continent.
Of course, I would not mind if your country speaks the languages of Tuthina either. :p
For global language, though, it seems that there are not really something like that in Esquarium in general. The closest ones are probably Vjaarlandic or some Romance languages.
Also, you should come on the IRC.
I can certainly do that at some point. I'll likely also edit English out for Vjaarlandic or some such like.
Also, I have noticed you seem to have colonized vast swaths of the globe. I assume colonizing my nation somewhere between 1200-1220 wouldn't be too far of a stretch? If you did so, the early form of my nation [the Dandiemese State] likely wouldn't give in fully until the 1800s or so, though. I can move the timeframe though if that's out of the question.
I'll likely do that sometime within the next couple of days as well.
Come near Qianrong or Namor
Qianrong, Meritocratic conglomerate, and Freyhill
That seems to be a decent time period for colonisation. We can discuss more about it if it need be. :)
IMO Vjaarlandic is significantly less widely spoken in Esquarium than English.
I think neither is very wide-spoken, but Vjaarlandic has a more solid historical basis to be a more common language than English given its colonial legacy. Romance languages benefits from something similar on top of its relative proximity with its members in Conitia.
Well, English is only spoken because it's the only language most of us have command of OOCly.
ICly, the lingua franca is probably either some romance language, Luziycan, or Vjaarlandic.
Let's just say there's no really dominant nor widespread language/culture here due to some "clash of civilizations" thing ongoing.
Luziyca, Crolacia, and Sandhelm
Or that Esquarium's historical development does not really create anything as close to monopoly of dominance as we did in RL.
Luziyca, Crolacia, and Victoriala
I would definitely do that, but I don't think there are any open land slots thereabout.
Noting the presence of the Tuthinan possession of Anheuser Island. Who owns Miller Lite Island?
Qianrong and Korivania
I think it is still reasonable to be located somewhere between Chorea and Freyhill if you intend to speak Vietnamese.
What exactly are the rules on island creation?
None is too many. Unless you have a really good reason.
You're allowed a maximum of √-1 islands.
Shots have been fired.
