You will soon realise that in the job market, everyday is finals.

Just not everybody passes.

Its early because the prize is picking this weeks five but I want to make sure that the winners picks go in on a Wednesday which is when I submit my picks so everyone gets an even amount of time...but if we only get 10 or so votes in I'll push it back a week.

Hello :)

I was wondering if anybody could recommend one (or several) Spanish-language news sites/blogs, preferably ones that cover more leftist topics. I once learned Italian by reading news in Italian but lost the ability by lack of practice (I was in Italy at the time). Now I want to try it again with Spanish as it covers a pretty sizable chunk of the world culturally.

An important Spanish newspaper which is largely concerned with Spanish left-wing politics is Público. El País is more moderate, but it has a larger print run and it is more popular among us. Unfortunately I don't have much information about South American newspapers :( Hope this helps.

The OAS puts together a daily sampling of news from the Americas, most of it from Spanish-language sources, all of them accessible for free: http://www.oas.org/en/media_center/news_clips.asp

Don't worry you could always be the lone heterosexual Shintoist socialist. :P

Well 13 isn't enough for me to call this so I've decided to keep the polls open for one more week so please take advantage of this and cast your vote!

Well, time to see if this trick actually works. Wish me luck. :)

The union of leftist republics

Just in case anybody is wondering my puppet region is now: RyanDKent28.

How 'bout those Cuban-US relations?

Gervase wrote:How 'bout those Cuban-US relations?

Right! The last thing I read was that there was supposed to be a common announcement from the US and Cuban presidents. Any news?

Pope Francis is one of the coolest people on the planet regardless of what you think happens when we die, this guy has been putting in some serious work. nice to see a religious figure actually acting like the fellow they are always talking about...

I have a strong dislike for any pope, and I honestly don't get the appeal. I'm sure people are happy that the Catholic PR department is in proper business, though.

Huge news -- so huge that all I have to do is link to the front page of the Times: http://www.nytimes.com/

Knew that was coming :) ...To each his own but I do think that the man's actions are commendable.

The misleyan diplomatic mission

We should not forget so quickly Cardinal Bergoglio's statements about homosexuality and liberation theology.

Bergoglio considered the extension of marriage rights to gay couples in Argentina "destructive to God's plan" and considered the proposal "a move by the father of lies (read: Satan) that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God."

No one who sits on the throne of Saint Peter is a friend of the revolution.

Indeed. I don't trust him one bit.

No we should not forget comments like that but what one man says is not the opinion of another...

Huh? Pope Francis was born Jorge Bergoglio. I used his pre-papal name because he made those comments as Cardinal, not Pope.

Anyone who sits on any religious throne isn't a friend of the revolution.
