Well I find simple points have more validity than reams of bluster. I can only more or less repeat what I wrote.
We're a male female species. Marriage is the formalizing of a long term relationship between them. By divine will, or even by evolutionary fate, we're a two sex species. Gender is of significance. Not just in terms of procreation. You cannot just ignore human gender as nothing.
Homosexualists, a word I made up just now, deliberately ignore the obvious of the two gender reality. They use feelings and genes! to argue against our gender. Hence male male relationships are the same as male female ones. This is now being formalised in the biggest s***hole of a country I know of. That is their theology.
If you cannae grasp that I dont know. I half write this stuff to amuse myself about the need to argue the ludicrously obvious.

A question: Why are you using the word "gender" here? "Gender" is an aspect of words in some non-English languages. Humans have sexes, not genders, unless the context is linguistics.
My dictionary says '2 (informal) the sex of any animal' for gender.
Yes, I am aware that its use in this meaning is widespread enough to enter dictionaries (like sentient/sapient) but it's still, IMO, yielding to the framing of those who would see sexual identity and sex as independent.
