After weeks - nearly a month, honestly - of giving it a great deal of thought, I have decided to accept my nominations for Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament. I'd love to see all of you vote in the elections, even if you're not casting your ballot for me (though that wouldn't hurt). If you have any questions of me, feel free to ask. I think I've covered most of the main questions you will have in my announcement speeches, which I've linked to below, but if you still want to ask me about why I'm running, what I'd do if I win, or anything else, I'd be glad to answer. Also, if you want to ask me about things not directly related to my campaign, such as how to become a citizen, how to join the forums, how to vote, or anything else, feel free to ask me, too. Hello, Australia.
Firstly, I'd like to briefly address the results of the recent elections. When I entered the races for PM & Speaker, I knew that no matter which candidate came out on top, democracy would win. It has, and I'm glad to see it thriving still here in Australia. The final tally was close - just one vote separated the two of us in the end, if I recall - but I lost to Artilla fair & square. I harbour no ill will or resentment towards her or any of her supporters for that; she has served Australia well and will continue to do so. However, after the dust had settled, I was able to come out on top in the Speaker race. I've never served as Speaker before in this region, which seems almost surprising given how long I've been here. Honestly, I think this is a perfect position for me, and I'm glad to be able to start working for you. That said, I've just started the job. My first order of business has been to administer a vote for the Regional Anthem Act. The proposed Act would establish a regional anthem - "Oh, Australia (Is Better than Bessarabia)" - and a regional holiday - Anthem Day, scheduled for 5 June (so we've just missed it, unfortunately, this time around). If you are a citizen, I encourage you to vote, and if you aren't, I encourage you to become one. Together, we can make Australia and Australian democracy strong.
