WA News, "Deja Vu" Edition. The General Assembly resolution "Researching Unique Ecosystems" was passed 11,189 votes to 2,164. So, start counting those truffula trees.

Now up for vote is a proposed resolution on "Foreign Patent Recognition". If this sounds familiar, it's because it is. Way back in May 2010, GAR #93, "The General Patent Charter" was passed. It was one of a number of resolutions by Charlotte Ryberg, a character in the annals of WA history notorious for coming up with numerous dubious resolutions. This January, GAR #93 was repealed. The repeal author, Railana has put this proposal up as a replacement. We've looked it over; it appears to have patched the numerous loopholes that plagued the earlier resolution.

A would-be "mover and shaker" in the World Assembly. Has drafted a number of proposals, most of which get shot down in flames. Apparently they're on a self-appointed mission to defeat the "WA elite", whatever that's supposed to be.

Guys! Can i be an Appearance &/or Poles delegate?

These delegate things sound pretty cool imo.

Rationallia - It's been ages since we've had a discussion on some kind of regional "government". I'm not sure how much interest there is in one.

By the way, the vote in Anime on the current General Assembly proposal is tied 4-4. Normally I'd make an executive decision and vote how I feel on it, but I really have no strong feelings on this proposal one way or another. Could someone break the tie and make your Delegate's mind up for us?

Well I'd say no to the GA res because we download a lot of anime.

For the new tools, I tthink there's potential to appoint a few active nations as regional officers, bar eject/ban but allowing poll making and spam suppressing abilities, If delegate and all co-founders agree.

Yeh, I remember :( Oh well, at least now this will have practical benefits.

I voted against that Patent resolution

Also if there a regional officer post for nekomimi and other similar anime girls let me know - I could do a wonderful job making sure no-one made them cry. :D

Also guys, the 31st of October is approaching. Brace yourselves for the hordes!

Well, the current regional vote is 6-5, so we're going to end up voting For, looks like. It's kind of a moot point since the proposal is passing by around 6,000 votes.

As for regional offices, the only question relevant to us would be whether we'd continue to have Executive authority along with the Founder, and that's up to them. The Delegate's position is held by right of endorsement, so it can't be distributed out like the other regional offices.

Whoever is going to hold those offices, they better be active.

Yeh, most definitely.

WA News, "Plugging Loopholes" Edition: The General Assembly resolution "Foreign Patent Recognition" was passed 9,881 votes to 4,513. Hopefully it will serve us better than the late GAR #93, "The General Patent Charter".

Now up for vote is another exercise in loophole-plugging, a proposed "Right to a Reasonable Income". This is sort of a follow-on resolution to the recently passed GAR #344, the "Minimum Standard of Living Act". It aims to patch the glaring loophole in the latter resolution, namely the out it gives for nations in cases where guaranteeing a minimum standard of living would harm their economies. The proposed resolution requires nations to calculate a "poverty line" based on the cost of living in that nation, and further requires nations to guarantee full-time workers receive an income to keep them above the "poverty line", and similar guaranteed income pro-rated for part-time workers.

GAR #344 was a turkey that never should've been passed, and this proposal simply makes it worse. We strongly recommend a No vote on it.

Been discussing about Regional Officers with Kawaii, Sygma and Marimite. For now, we are open to enabling Regional Officers powers on
- Poll making (Polls)
- WFE editing (Appearance)

Limited to active WA nations who have been in Anime for more than 1 year.

Anyone interested?

Who is going to close the border when the horde is coming? My nation saw a nightmare last year :/

Like I said a bit earlier, I am interested :)

4 people in this region could do it. If people think its a good idea, we can close it a day or several days early b4 Halloween hits.

The eternal kawaii and Marimite are more active than me, can you guys help with the above?

I have a javascript tool which auto-launches cure missile to a target nation every 35 seconds or so. I just want to make sure it's not against the rule so I can share it

WA News, "Think Quick" edition. The General Assembly resolution "Right to a Reasonable Income" was defeated 8,239 votes to 6,415. We dodged the bullet on that one.

Now up for vote is a proposed repeal of GAR #182, "Renewable Research Commitment". The repeal is currently failing rather badly, largely thanks to its author, Vancouvia, being a bit of a prat and refusing to allow any debate on the repeal--they went ahead and submitted it directly. That said, GAR #182 is a rather lame piece of legislation that ought to be repealed anyway, and because the repeal's wording isn't all that bad, we're going to give Vancouvia a pass and go ahead and recommend a yes vote.
