This seemed the proper place for this thing.

WA News, "Still Rethinking It" Edition. General Assembly Resolution #113, "The Gem Trading Accord" was re[ealed 10,925 votes to 1,641. So you'd better get a second opinion on that Maxtopian diamond you just bought.

Currently up for vote is another repeal, this time of GAR #315, the "Nuclear Power Safeguards Act". The repeal author is claiming the resolution is badly written and fails to account for various types of nuclear reactor designs, and the wording mandating who is responsible for overseeing nuclear plant safety is ambiguous and confusing.

Although the early votes for this proposed repeal seem to be in favor of it (largely due to the heavyweight delegates Mousebumples and Sillystring), the debate in the Assembly Hall is decidedly against it. Not so much because the resolution is worth keeping, but that the author's arguments are irrelevant and specious. The sense of the Assembly debate seems to be that if this resolution is to be repealed, the repeal must be better thought-out.

So Japan is pretty okay.

Saw the place where Nobunaga died (not really because nothing is original), and other cool stuff.

Been to Kabukicho? ;)

"Don't worry, we come in peace. We are just visiting, for now, to see what's what."

(OOC: I do realise that the 'Girl Genius' is a web-comic rather than anime, but this still seems one of the most appropriate regions for the nation anyway. I'm the player who's also responsible for Bears Armed, and none of my [quite numerous] puppets were already here...)

How exactly do you get the furniture restoration industry? When ever you make decisions about, say, automobiles- you get the automobile industry. If you legalize guns and such you get arms manufacturing. But I can't think of any issues that would give me that industry. Is it just an issue I haven't gotten for making certain economic decisions on issues?

I guess it's almost random. I don't remember doing anything about furniture industry but I got 10th ranking. Maybe it's because my government focus on industry and economic freedom.

WA News, "Wash Your Hands" Edition: General Assembly Resolution #315, "Nuclear Power Safeguards Act" was repealed 10,590 votes to 2,017. Hopefully we'll get a replacement proposal on the books soon.

Currently up for vote, though, is a proposal on "Preserving Antimicrobials". The basic idea is to discourage nations from over-use of anti-microbial compounds that, through over-use, can cause the evolution of microbial-resistant "superbugs". It's a good idea, although the implementation is a little vague. It calls for the World Health Authority to do more research stuff, mostly. It does mandate member nations spend money on education and investment in infection control methods, so it's not totally Just Another Committee resolution. Overall, it's probably useful.

Baron wulfenbach

Meh.
If the 'antimicrobials' to which we currently have access become ineffective then we'll just develop some alternative method for dealing with the microbes instead: Use a modulated electrical field to draw them out of their victims, perhaps, or zap them with a specialised death-ray that shouldn't also harm their victims...

@Wulfenbach - That sounds like something the Realm of Unrestricted Science would think of.

H'mm, that could be somewhere else to visit eventually...
but what we do isn't "Science", it's "SCIENCE!!!"

If you don't speak Chinese, don't worry :)

Anyone else watch Battle Bots on ABC?

Now I REALLY want to know what that Chinese says.

Greetings fellow nations, I, Kurokochōhime, the Queen of "Rolitania/Roritania", would like to declare you our friends!

WA News, "Pet the Bunny" Edition. The General Assembly resolution "Protected Status in Wartime" was passed 10,177 votes to 2,044. So, no attacking Red Cross vehicles for you.

Currently up for vote is another proposal to protect all things harmless and good: "Prohibiting Animal Abuse". It's pretty much what the title says--it outlaws abusing or wantonly killing animals (except in the usual situations such as animal husbandry, hunting, veterinary medicine, and medical research provided it's done humanely), putting them in danger for no good reason (such as cockfighting or other bloodsports), and requires pet owners to make a reasonable commitment to the care of their charges. It's kind of fluffy, but it's these sorts of causes that the Kawaiians knock themselves out over, so we strongly recommending a Yes vote here.

What is up with that telegram from USOM, it is a bit weird.....

It's because Rolitania was already taken, even though it's the name of a country in my own book. And yeah, lol.

You're an author?

Yeah. I go by the pen name Olivia D. Knight, and one of my books is called "Rolitania". It's about time travelling espers who are such huge nerds that, to avoid the bad future, create their own country. The queen is a shameless author avatar, actually. So yeah a Japanese/Black otaku created a haven for nerds of all walks of life, not just those obsessed with anime and manga.

Poked fun at old-timey perceptions of the Chinese language in the Chinese language.

At least, that's what Google Translate led me to believe.
