What's sad is that this grave marker succinctly captures the futility of human existence much more than others. Its engraving strives to retain the memory of someone, to carve out some tiny victory against the universe even if it is merely a symbolic victory, but the unrelenting and oblivious tide of Time has destroyed every vestige of that person - even the memory.

Such is life.

Well then... Such dark talk on this day of thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving one and all.

Cheers for Imm for making American Thanksgiving depressing! /)\_/

And a happy Thanksgiving to you folks who live in a climate that's friendlier to your crops. :p

Kill la kill is an amusing show.

So what do we think of this?

Fairly hyped.

Orangi is uber-hyped, tho.

Orangi would be uber-hyped over a thumbnail size image of an X-wing's nose cone. I want to know what he thinks of the lightsaber.

True.

I think he thinks it's neat. Haven't really got a chance to talk about with him, though.

This point of view is needlessly dismal.

Well, I'll admit that it's a bit needlessly purple, but I felt it was exactly as dismal as it had to be to describe why the image had the emotional content for some viewers that it apparently had.

Well anyone who had existential crises upon looking at that image should realize that human life and it's legacy are about as futile as anything else in existence, save some solitary chunks of rock and ice that will likely wander aimlessly and uninterruptedly through space until the end of time. But if that's what we're comparing humanity to, then I'm glad that our fate will likely be much less boring.

Graves and gravestones are but the temporal halves of what we leave behind. Naturally they won't last forever, that's a given. But the memories we leave behind will last until the end of human progeny, and those are what are really important.

*Waiting patiently to celebrate the birth of the invincible sun-god*

2. No one had an existential crisis over the image; some of us just found it mildly depressing, and others found it amusingly ironic.

What image are we talking about?
