History...

The Royal Alliance Regional Message Board

it was the war of liberation of the south pacific (that's what i believe you were getting emails about could be wrong though) which wasnt a war as such but a battle for the WA delegate position

Hmm? I dunno if I can entirely agree with that, Figltopia.

Definition of battle: (military) a hostile meeting of opposing military forces in the course of a war.

Anyhow, it lasted over at least 20 updates from memory (battles), so I suppose that's the support evidence for it being a war.

true it wasn't a real war as wars are defined but it was a war in the sense of a battle between two sides over something.
Using the W word just makes it seem cooler than what it really was i guess?

So here, war is just a tension between two nations with or without the fighting?

The creators really should allow nations to create 'physical' armies and have provinces/objectives to take is they enter into states of war with other nations/regions.

even if its turn-based top trumps style games where you dont participate in battles as such but depending on equipment/training/experience i doubt it would be difficult to link military/defence issues with a 'military body'.

Also would pave the way for WA peacekeeping missions etc in line with UN ideals

Here's NS's answer:

"How do I go to war against another nation? Or trade with them?

In one sense, you can't. NationStates doesn't include these things—because it's a simple game, and because they would bias things in favor of militaristic and capitalist nations. One of the nice things about NationStates is that you can craft a nation into your idea of Utopia without having to worry about such pragmatic concerns as national defence.

There are, however, two types of wargame that have been developed by the NationStates community. One is regional invasions, where nations attempt to move into another region and topple the Regional Delegate; the other is an in-depth role-playing game that takes place in the International Incidents forum.

Many people have suggested a more sophisticated version of NationStates, with trade and military conflicts, but this is unlikely, as it would fundamentally change who we are. At its core, NationStates is a political game, not a wargame."

is there anyway of contacting them as their closing statement is ridiculous, war is one of the biggest political tools any government can have around 80% of wars in the 20th-21st centruy have been politically motivated...

But the point of this game is not war. There's tons of other sites if you want to battle with others.

The whole point of this game is to create the country you would want to lead if you could create your own, in a realistic environment, BUT it cannot be realistic without the ability to declare war, set up unique trade/political agreements with specific nations with common goals and needs. WTF is the point of making a 'realistic' game if they leave out key parts that make it realistic.

You didnt see NATO using pathetic UN endorements to dislodge the Taliban Regime in afghanistan did you? why do you think i changed my mind in participating in 'the liberation of TSP'

Even the problems that these situations would create make this game for a much broader and more mature audience.

At present i feel like im the only person on here thats above the age of 12 and isnt scared of reality. War, trade, cultural/religious co-operation are all things that would make this game better, i doubt you are a mod so it seems fruitless even discussing this matter with you.
