Also re: the WA forums. I warned you about the Baizuo. They run this place now and are unapologetically authoritarian.
Can't do it tonight but I'll have Arororugul fill Burutuguun in on the situation in Golthaindroror ASAP
Wish I'd come up with a name more Turkic sounding than Golthaindroror. Sounds vaguely Nordic. Oh well, been using it too long to change it now.
Aundotutunagirian is a Turkic language of course, but I imagine it's been heavily influenced by Russian, Karelian, the Scandinavian languages, and the languages of the Samoyeds. They were up there in the far north and cut off from the rest or the Mongol-Turkic world for a long time.
All their words sound suitably agglutinative to me! The Urgenchi's use a lot of different languages and their "old Mongol" isnt the real deal either despite what they might like to tell you ;P
Is the Urgenchi lingua franca Mongol, or something like Persian? What's the language of the Court? The preferred language of diplomacy? I know we've discussed this but I've forgotten.
Urgenchi Old Mongol is the language of Court and a lingua franca among elites, but there are multiple official languages and law is promulgated in all of them. The languages of diplomacy are Persian, Middle Chinese or Old Mandarin and Latin (especially with Farangi naturally enough).
Going out of town this weekend so likely won't have much time to post. I'll catch up next week.
Well I guess I'm done with the NS forum. Humorless place now anyway.
Or maybe not....
Boring conversation, anyway. Luke, we're gonna have company!
