Secularia Regional Message Board

Just a warning everyone, I got the following message

i will fight you soon

from
The Republic of Freedom states of london

somehow I'm not fearful, but just wanted to let everyone know.

What do you think will happen?

Tripolitan "declared war" on me in a telegram a while ago after I ejected them, whatever that means. I still have not noticed anything. But we should keep our eyes open.

I would like to know more about the ideologies of this region and would like to evaluate applying for citizenship. Is there a regional forum?

no, no regional forums. We tried that some time ago, but really for a while we've just been a mass of inactivity, so the message board here really handled all our needs.

As for ideologies, there's really only one thing. Secularia supports the idea of secular governance. This doesn't necessarily mean that we're all atheist (though that is common) just that we believe the church should not have undo influence on the state and it's government.

also, for Anarthia: unfortunately we're small enough that an invasion would be easy to pull off (since you just need to get 6 people to move in, giving one of your groups 5 endorsements). However following the invasion we've seen not much happens. You build up regional influence over time, and it's hard for some upstart to gain enough influence to dislodge oldtimers like me or Neo-Pangaea (though some others may be at risk). Historically what we're seen happen is they come in, congratulate themselves on taking over, leave some messages on our message board, and then get bored and leave.

that's very funny, the whole "get bored and leave" bit.

Our country believes in a divine being who is just and communicates with those in leadership who believe, about what is right. At that point those "believers" in leadership go about introducing bills based on what they feel has been communicated through the times of meditation and revelation from the divine being. However, such policies are not forced upon the society. They are introduced and legislated like in most democracies. And so, even though a sort of "Jedi council" -not literally- but in kind exists as part of the government with the goal of introducing the divine guidance into the legislator, the divine guidance that they claim to have received is often rejected by the legislator because of the value of being able to vote and of course, many who often don't believe in the "divine guidance". So, even though it's there, it's still subject to the democratic process. This is mostly because the Divine being is just and kind and not interested in ruling over puppets. In that respect It's a bit mis- leading to say that we are a theocracy, however there is a strong theocratic element if I haven't completely ended up making no sense what so ever.

I guess the question becomes, are we able to be considered secular based on the free democratic system that we have that facilitates policies based on majority vote and not on any religious or spiritual dictation, even though divine revelation, as perceived by some, is actively introduced into the democratic process.

It's not very funny, to be honest :P

Our country is secular and our leadership agnostic.
I bet you were expecting both, considering the region and the nation name ;)

Beware of The United Earth Federation.

They are invaders.

And you were one of them and didn't mind invading regions until you got banned from the invaders themselves.
and you spammed our RMB. Twice.

Get the hell out of here.
