I don't know how you define what I call levels but... you know: primary school, high school, college, university... different "levels". Which is the right word?
And with "educational bureucracy" I meant... from my point of view, things like... (a) I shuold be registering my sister by internet and the damn website doesn't ever load. They've received a lot of complains but... they don't fix it until the last couple of days, and it's every year. At some universities, it's a cyber-race to registering by internet, with some students staying late waiting for the website to open it's doors at midnight... and the system always collapses. (b) I've to re-register for the second university year, but in person - and it takes me 50 minutes to get there and 50 to get back home, why they can't just assume I'm going to continue studing? I've my university student ID that says "valid until march 2012"!!! (c) I've a lot of disagreements with the student council (made of ALL students) and, if I don't want to be part of it, I've to write a letter expressing that - even when I don't considerate them "an authority" (technically, they aren't!). So I've to admit they're an authority to leave that group when my reason is that I don't think they've any real power. (d) When I was at high school, even when I was one of the good (yet wild) boys, I've to assist to general metting about how bad everyone was doing and how bad were the kids who destroyed the school propiety. It was just dumb to do that since I was one of the good guys... but it was mandatory. (e) If they want to promote education, why doing a terrifically complex legal procedure to "legalizate" everyone's high school title? Ok, that may not apply for all countries but... |

Like the school system? I don't know what it's called either...
It's a very strange question to try and place on the WFE, we shall have to decide how to phrase it right... "Do you believe that the schooling system has too much bureaucracy for students to concentrate fully on their studies?" ... I don't know I'm sure that Fin, master of languages, will help me out :) |
