Resolution #122: Delegate Election Specifications

Recognizing that several Kennanite nations have called for more specific guidelines for World Assembly Delegate elections,

Noting that much concern over ambiguity in election procedure revolves around operative clause 4 of Resolution #115, which requires elections for "two month terms each term," a phrase that gives a vague definition for a term, a flaw that could easily be abused,

Understanding that delegate elections are the most high-profile events in the Kennan region and therefore require solid procedures,

Believing that the Secretary of Elections should retain some discretion while planning and running delegate elections,

Therefore, the Kennan Regional Council,

  1. Defines a term for the World Assembly Delegate as a two-month period, beginning on the first day of an odd-numbered month (i.e., January (1), March (3), etc.) and ending on the last day of the following month;

  2. Requires the Secretary of Elections to hold an election for the World Assembly Delegate within two weeks of the beginning of the next term, taking place over a period of at least 48 hours;

  3. Requires the Secretary of Elections to accept candidates for a World Assembly Delegate election from the beginning of a World Assembly Delegate term until the beginning of the election, and to publicly announce these candidates.
