The First Age (The Age of Myth)

In the First Age, legend says the first people settled in Ammorica, a tribe of nomadic bands constantly in persuit of game. The legends call these people the Wanderers, due to the nature of oral history transmission, little is known of the Wanderers, themselves leaving little evidence.

Around 300 FA, legend says the Wanderers settled into villages and agriculture. They expanded, creating a Chieftainship, first led by Heloi the Strong. Around this time, another tribe of people, known as the Saari, arrived from the cold North and settled in northern Ammorica. Herdsman of caribou, they possesed a King, Ulf the Tall, a giant of a man.

In 345 FA, the Wanderers and Saari met and soon after began the War of Snow. Many of both Saari and Wanderer blood fell, until March 15, 346 FA, the War of the Snow ended in the felling of the Wanderer people, legend says, in the final battle, in the fields of Heloi's village, he and his men charged, laughing at despair, the lord of a fell people.

In 396 FA, rebellion struck, a group of border towns revolted against King Eric the Wise, son of Ulf the Tall, these towns were mining rowns, primarily mining gold thus they threatened the Saari gold supply, using their own supplies to try to entice other towns to join them. Eric tried for four years to negotiate until in 399 FA the rebels attacked Eric's capital Jungenheim, a great city built into the White Mountains range. The rebels burned many towns and villages, forcing many common, loyal Saari folk to flee to Jungenheim, the rebels laid siege which lasted a year.

In 400 FA, on the fields of Vinland, when hope was fading, they appeared from the West. The Horse Lords, a tribe of horsemen, herders and farmers arrived with a host of 5,000 riders and tore through the rebel force of 10,000, sparing the Jungenheim garrison of 7,000 men-at-arms and 8,000 civilians. After the dead were properly buried, the Horse Lords asked King Eric the Wise for refuge, in the acient custom of hospitality among his people, gave them the plains of the West Mark, in the center of Ammorica.
