Political Beliefs of Moderate Republican

Here are my views summarized. I consider myself a conservative. I obviously am a member of the GOP in America.

Underlining indicates issues I feel strongly enough about that it factors into my decisions on voting often.

Beliefs in Line with (most of the) GOP:

Jobs - Most problems in our nation would be halfway to solving if we had more people in good jobs. The best thing the government can do for its people is create the best reasonable environment for private-sector job growth. (57 straight months of job growth means less in over 200 years of straight population growth, also.)
Government Spending - Spending cuts are desperately needed across the board. America is living beyond its means.
National Debt - Some debt is fine, hell, a lot of debt is okay. Letting the debt balloon to the extent it has since 9/11 is dangerous, however.
Education - Public schools are failing and poor kids are trapped in poor public school districts. I strongly support a voucher system.
Law and order - Strong support for law and order. Violating laws and damaging property of innocent people in the name of a demonstration or protest should be met with police response.
Healthcare - Obamacare needs emergency surgery. Support upping 30 hour work week to 40. Individual mandate is an okay-ish idea, it was implemented horribly and the bureaucracy of it all has proven more expensive than just giving the uninsured money for insurance under the old system would have been.
Regulation - The regulatory hurdles people have to go through to operate businesses are insane in many areas. Trivial distinctions in packaging or products cause major differences in mandatory regs. The law has become so complicated here it is really hurting upstarts - the law needs to be dramatically streamlined across the board.
Political correctness - It's gone too far.
Second Amendment / Gun Control - I support my right to own a handgun, rifle, or shotgun strongly. I also support common sense registration and permits. I do not feel strongly about my right to own "assault weapons" but also note that such weapons represent a remarkably low portion of murders via firearm (compared to handguns etc).
Nuclear Iran - Nope. Nope, nope, nope.

Issues I feel conflicted over:

Taxes - I am an accounting graduate student currently and have worked in taxation. I am aware that both sides are absolutely looney on taxes, corporate taxes are neither unfairly low nor so high they are killing jobs. Thus I have no strong support or opposition to reasonable tax increases or cuts.
Middle East / Africa - It is hard to say after playing such a big role in the world reaching where it is that the oppression and fear that grips these areas are not our problem to address. Our involvement rarely improves situations though. It is hard for me too feel good about interventionism or non-interventionism.

At odds with (most of the) GOP:

**Gay and lesbian rights** - Support same sex marriage. Support adding sexuality and gender identity (whatever term is appropriate, admitting little knowledge) to EOA protections so one cannot be fired for being gay in America.
Tea Party - "Press one for English" "End the Fed" "Abolish the IRS" "War on Christmas" "Death panel" "Obama is Islamist/Kenyan/Communist" wtf - r u srs? -.-
Immigration - Support pathway to citizenship. Make it much easier for people to immigrate to America.
Environment - Global warming is real. The government plays some role in solving the problem. Environmental regulations should be balanced against their costs, however.
Military spending - We can make significant cuts without impacting national security. Our military is unrealistically large. We do not need bases in Europe in today's world.
Minimum Wage: It is time to increase the minimum wage at the federal level.
Social Security - Remove upper limit on Social Security payroll tax to help fund the program. It is a valuable program that isn't in as much danger as it is made to seem.
Food Stamps - Valuable program to help with the cost of food for the poor so they can use their resources to better their standing. If people choose to misuse it as part of a long-term plan, they are only robbing themselves of quality life. It does not reflect on the good purpose and impact of the program.
