The Protectorate Organization of NERVUN is a gargantuan, devout nation, ruled by Supreme Commander Ikari Gendou with an even hand, and remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 10.81 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.
There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Automobile Manufacturing.
The mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, corporations cut costs by taking away safety-features on their products, the fire protection service is wholly government-funded, and the military has had to quell a recent insurrection by uninsured revolutionaries. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. NERVUN's national animal is the hotsprings penguin, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the eva.
NERVUN is ranked 1st in the region and 2,307th in the world for Largest Furniture Restoration Industry.
