The Kingdom of Zxortanites is a colossal, safe nation, remarkable for its superstitious fear of technology. The hard-nosed population of 7.084 billion Zxortanitesians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Law & Order and Defence are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zxortanites City. The average income tax rate is 14%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Fortified nursing homes are wracked with daily skirmishes, private business has started paving paradises and putting up parking lots, parents live in fear of governmental 'child protection' squads, and tombstones are ten feet high to accommodate the names of inhabitants. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zxortanites's national animal is the wingless eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the zxort.

Zxortanites is ranked 1st in The International Radiated Wasteland and 14,022nd in the world for Lowest Overall Tax Burden, scoring -2 on the Hayek Index.
