It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kingstown upon Zidano river. The average income tax rate is 83%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Information Technology and Book Publishing.

Public footpaths are being slowly eroded by the burgeoning number of ramblers, all telephone traffic is monitored for 'national security reasons', government-run screening operations remove embryos with severe genetic disorders, and local executives are seen on the corner with cardboard signs reading "will oppress the masses for food". Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zidano The Land of the Great Sakhal's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Kanakau.
