The Dominion of Zertazee is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and notable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.036 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large, corrupt government is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Defence and Healthcare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zertazee City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Uranium Mining, and Retail industries.

People are now classified as male, female, or genderqueer, criminals are executed and their property seized, rag-wearing teachers are often mistaken for homeless people, and tombstones are ten feet high to accommodate the names of inhabitants. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Zertazee's national animal is the Terrier, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Kitty.

Zertazee is ranked 1,571st in The North Pacific and 33,515th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -11 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
