The Allied States of Zathganastan is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by Nathen Williams with an even hand, and notable for its hatred of cheese. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.947 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Afroas. The average income tax rate is 73%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

Leather-clad individuals can be seen walking their slaves in public parks, heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste, fewer people are bathing as citizens must show ration stamps before they can turn on their faucets, and a punitive tax has been placed on harmful emissions. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zathganastan's national animal is the fox, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is christanty and islam, and its currency is the darllor.

Zathganastan is ranked 47th in The Respected Realms and 89,206th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -21 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
