The Commonwealth of Yorkopolis is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by the people through the People's Congress with a fair hand, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 3.9 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The large, corrupt, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kappenberg. The average income tax rate is 35%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government has been kicking out foreign corporations in a bid to grow enough food for the populace, multiple polls have christened the newly-formed Filibuster Committee as "the least efficient government bureaucracy", UFO sightings are listed daily in the morning news, and Yorkopolis is building an army to protect its overseas territories. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Yorkopolis's national animal is the eagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is State Atheism, and its currency is the Florin.

Yorkopolis is ranked 3rd in Glass Gallows and 2,393rd in the world for Healthiest Citizens, with 15 Standard Bananas Ingested per capita per day.
