The Democratic Republic of Yoneyistan is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Can Yöney with a fair hand, and notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 3.864 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ankara. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Tourism.

Citizens applying for their first jobs face fierce competition from the homeless, kids laugh off vandalism and arson as "just fun", meat-eating is frowned upon, and retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Yoneyistan's national animal is the lion, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the lira.

Yoneyistan is ranked 475th in Europe and 98,553rd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -33 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
