The Empire of Yeses is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by President with an even hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 10.522 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Yeses City. The average income tax rate is 53%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Military geniuses responsible for brilliant campaigns are drummed out because they have close same-sex friends and an interest in interior design, Yeses's schoolchildren are manufactured into a segregated bunch of soldiers, religious zealots, and computer technicians, artists are pillars of society, and a niche industry catering to S&M enthusiasts has sprung up. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Yeses's national animal is the ant, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the colony dollar.

Yeses is ranked 1,073rd in the South Pacific and 27,992nd in the world for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring 2 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
