The Orbital Weapons Platform of Yeldan UN Mission is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 14.872 billion enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Social Equality. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

Eight year-olds can be seen lighting up in public areas, scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, employers may fire workers without giving any reason, and the armed forces are locked in an expensive and bloody war abroad to stamp out possible terrorists. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Yeldan UN Mission's national animal is the Running Dog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the New Yeldan Pound.

Yeldan UN Mission is ranked 1st in The Pleiades and 618th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 49 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
