The Pristine Wilderness of Yeldan Nature Preserve is a gargantuan, genial nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate population of 14.53 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of the Environment, with areas such as Defence and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Survivors receive aid from only the most environmentally-friendly transport, dog breeding has been banned in accordance with recent animal experimentation laws, the words 'private' and 'enterprise' must never appear in the same sentence, and Leader has just been declared ruler of Yeldan Nature Preserve in an international press conference. Crime is relatively low. Yeldan Nature Preserve's national animal is the Spotthecat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Environmentalism, and its currency is the YNP Pound.

Yeldan Nature Preserve is ranked 30th in The Pleiades and 101,324th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -74 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
